The T40 is a ten+ year old machine. The hard drive in there will not fit in the newer computer, its of an older type no longer supported. Your best bet would be to get an external USB enclosure that supports IDE drives. If the drive has actually gone bad, you'll need a program like getdataback to recover your files.

are you meaning the wifi wires as the rest all have there own sockets and they only fit in the right ones. cable length only fits to them.

Those are tough to find. You may have better luck by finding a used computer/laptop store in your area and finding a working CPU out of another unit.

Have you tested this laptop using an external monitor? If your laptop works good with an external monitor, it means your laptop screen is dead and needs to be replaced. If the external monitor displays black screen , it means there is something wrong with the GPU and or motherboard.

there are a lot of free format tools on line choose one and reformat the partition. but it you have the installation disc there is the format tool on that.

have you cleaned the laser. they do need a clean every now and then. cotton bud does the trick with some lazer cleaning fluwid on it

you need to do a scan disc in tools for the hard drive. it need to be set to auto fix and it will then say it will start on next startup. shut down and restart and just leave it to do its stuff. it should fix it. failing that you need a system monitor system installed like winfix that can detect windows faults and fix them.

take the battery off unplug ac, hold down the power button for 30-60 seconds put power ac on not battery press power if comes on dont put battery on till windows screen comes on make sure you dont knock out the ac while doing this.
