Magnavox MDR513H/F7 Player Questions & Answers
3 month old magnavox mdr515h/f7 is dead. It may be
My unit was dead also.....So I checked outlet first...It was good....Then I tried the 10 minute disconnect and reconnected unit......Saw Unit had power on LCD screen....Hit ON button on remote after changing to HDD and unit works perfectly again....That fix saved me 75 bucks for repair center to do same thing...Glad Funai makes units that shut off before damage occurs...Unit just needed to cool down hard drive or circuitry before it sensed it was ok again....When plugged in it is still technically powered even tho you dont see it on the LCD screen of the unit...

Dead....Think it is fuse?
You can replace the fuse (if the unit is not under any warranty) by carefully opening the top cover - the fuse is a small glass tube in the power supply (near where the cord connects) check its rating and voltage (the replacement MUST match the original). You should be able to reach this easily without further disassembly of the unit.
If replacing this inexpensive part does not restore any power to your unit, then you have a faulty/defective power supply circuit - this should really be tackled in a fully equipped workshop with adequate facilities by a qualified technician; it is not meant for end-users to repair when it fails due to the potential dangers involved. Experience suggests in many cases a dead unit is not just a blown fuse, but a switchmode power supply failure.
Try replacing the fuse first - then consider submitting unit to a service centre for a quote, then you can decide afterwards if it's economical/worthwhile repairing.

Power supply different voltage supply
Unless the power supply is a multi-system* type, the unit will not work in Australia without major modifications to suit the mains voltage. The differences between USA and Australian voltages are significant. We use a higher voltage rating for appliances than America does, and appliances made for Australia operate at around 220-250V AC.
In order for it to function correctly and safely in Australia, the power supply would need major modification, which can prove expensive, and often impractical.
