Yamaha DGX630 - Digital Piano - Page 7 Questions & Answers
The Yamaha sustain pedal attached to my Yamaha YPT-300 used to work, but now does nothing. Factory reset failed. Any way to fix this, or tell if the problem is with the pedal or the piano itself?
It sounds like you are having an issue with the sustain pedal for your Yamaha YPT-300 keyboard not working properly. There are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
- Check the connection between the pedal and the keyboard to make sure that it is securely plugged in and not loose.
- Check the settings on the keyboard to make sure that the sustain pedal is properly configured and enabled.
- Try using a different sustain pedal to see if the problem is with the pedal itself or the keyboard.
- Check the manual of your keyboard, some models have a specific setting to turn on/off the sustain pedal and make sure it's not turned off.
- If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it's possible that there is a problem with the keyboard's internal connections or a malfunctioning component. In this case, you may need to contact Yamaha's customer service for further assistance or consider getting it repaired by a professional technician.
It's important to note that troubleshooting and repairing electronic equipment can be dangerous, especially if you're not familiar with the device, so it's best to contact a professional technician if you're not comfortable working with it.

Any idea why my Yamaha P95 electric piano has no sound or volume
Hi,
Please ensure that the volume down button isn't permanently stuck on the piano. You can also double check that there's not wire plugged into the earphone jack otherwise all of you sound might be outputting to that wire which might lead to headphones that you're not necessarily using. Then, you can power cycle your device before checking for sound again. Otherwise, you might have to get the device repaired at a location like Geeksquad/Bestbuy.
Thank you.

Yamaha dxg 500: some times have to press piano key multiple times to get sound. It's not always the same keys that work that way.
Yamaha's have little rubber "contact strips" that run under the keys. These strips have little rubber buttons on them, exactly like your tv remote. When you push the key down, it pushed the rubber button down and make an electrical contact. These buttons eventually fail and separate where the bottom of the button meets the strip. You have to replace the strip (different sizes, depending on where on the keyboard it is) but they aren't cheap. You can find them here http://syntaur.com/yamaha_psr.html but sometimes you can find someone selling them on ebay cheaper. If you only need a single strip, or maybe two, it's probabaly worth it. More strips than that and you may find it cheaper to buy someone's broken keyboard on ebay and take the strips out, especially if it's broken for a different reason, like won't power up.

When recording on either Song or Audio, the keyboard only records about a minute and then says "Disk Drive Busy" and stops recording in the middle of the song.
I did a factory reset=no joy
There could be a few different reasons why your keyboard is stopping recording after a minute. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
- Make sure that you have enough free space on your device to save the recording.
- Check to see if there are any other programs or processes running on your device that could be causing the issue. If you have other programs open, try closing them to see if that helps.
- Try turning off any antivirus software you have running on your device, as it could be causing conflicts with the recording process.
- Make sure that your device is updated to the latest version of its operating system.
- If you're using a digital audio workstation (DAW) to record, make sure that you have the latest version of the DAW software and that it is compatible with your device.
If you've tried all of these steps and you're still having trouble, it's possible that there could be an issue with the keyboard itself. In this case, you may want to try contacting the manufacturer for further assistance.

Will a midi interface allow me to play downloaded music on a yamaha clainova 305
Yes, with some preparation. The music will have to be in a standard MIDI file format or a format that results in standard MIDI over USB output when "played" by computer software or an external sequencer. Within the software you will probably need to create a new "instrument" if there is not already a template for the CVP 305, otherwise the tracks and sub channels in the MIDI file will be patched to GM, probably not what you want to hear.

Yamaha psr-e333. Can switch on but cannot play even the grandpiano func. Its just "yamaha" written on the display..
To start with try a master reset, whilst the instrument is off press and hold the top (highest) sounding key whilst turning on.
When the screen displays Yamaha release the top key.
If this doesn't solve the issue then it could be a number of things as the keyboard does a self check on startup and will hang if a fault is found. Check each rubber switch is not stuck down or even missing this can cause this issue. Please report back either way.

What is the best way to reprogram a Yamaha WX5 Ewi
Reprogramming a Yamaha WX5 Electronic Wind Instrument (EWI) typically involves adjusting settings, assigning functions to different keys, or customizing parameters to suit your preferences. Here's a general guide on how you might reprogram a Yamaha WX5:
- Access the Menu:
- Turn on your Yamaha WX5.
- Navigate through the menu options using the buttons or controls on the instrument. Refer to your WX5's user manual for specific instructions on accessing the menu.
- Select Parameter to Edit:
- Once in the menu, find the parameter you want to edit. This could include things like breath sensitivity, pitch bend range, or assigned MIDI channels.
- Adjust Parameters:
- Use the controls provided on the WX5 to adjust the parameters. This might involve turning knobs, pressing buttons, or using a combination of controls.
- Save Changes:
- After making your adjustments, make sure to save your changes. The WX5 typically has a save or store function within the menu. Confirm the changes and save them to the instrument's memory.
- Refer to the Manual:
- Consult the user manual for your specific Yamaha WX5 model. The manual will provide detailed information on navigating menus, adjusting parameters, and saving changes.
- Connect to a Computer:
- Some advanced customization may require connecting your WX5 to a computer using MIDI. You can use Yamaha's dedicated software, if available, to reprogram certain parameters.
- Use External Sound Modules:
- If you're using external sound modules or synthesizers, some customization may need to be done on those devices as well. Refer to the manuals for your MIDI equipment to ensure compatibility and proper configuration.
- Explore Advanced Settings:
- Depending on your proficiency and the complexity of your WX5 model, you might explore more advanced settings like custom MIDI mapping or adjusting sensitivity curves.
Remember to approach reprogramming with caution, especially if you are not familiar with all the settings. Make note of the default settings before making changes, so you can revert to them if needed.
Always refer to the user manual specific to your Yamaha WX5 model for accurate and detailed instructions on reprogramming and customization. If you're unsure or uncomfortable with the process, consider seeking assistance from Yamaha support or experienced professionals in electronic wind instruments.

Yamaha P-120 Piano: Graded Hammer (NOT key) dysfunction?
My opinion is you should take the instrument to a yamaha authorized service center.. It's doubtful this will be user serviceable, particularly if the problem isn't on all the keys, and the service center will have access to the parts needed as well as more information from Yamaha than they will share with an end user.
