It's likely that your map (data) got corrupted. You can recover by restoring your back-up copy of the map (that you'd previously done via TomTom HOME on your computer).

If you don't have a back-up copy, try using your computer's disk check utility to fix the file system and recover data (from the storage media on your GPS device). Just connect the GPS to your computer, no need to use TomTom HOME, just use the Properties tab and use the Tools to run a disk check (assuming you're using Windows).

If that doesn't work, you may want to purchase & download and install the latest copy of the map from the TomTom website (via HOME).

The card is activated to the unit it was originally purchased for. The card can not be used in another device . They are locked to the device code

It appears that the battery will not hold a (good) charge anymore. If it is still under warranty, contact TomTom to address that problem. They may replace the unit for you.It is not unusual for (rechargeable) batteries to loose it's capability to hold a good charge if it is plugged in (to a power source) all the time, even while it is not in use.

In the back where the mount fixing goes, there is a small reset button, push this in with a pin.

Have you tried going back to your "Change Preferences" menu, etc. ... to switch back to the Germany map ?Or (if all your map is under a single map file), try "Navigate to" and select and enter an address in Germany ...

It needs to be rebooted. Turn off, by holding off button down. Then once it is completely off, then turn it on, BUT when you go to turn it on, keep on button depressed, all the way until it turns on and then some for about 15 seconds, now you just rebooted system. Let me know, mike

Or if all you get is a green light when its plugged into an external charger, then you could have blown one of two Microchips on the charging circuit and to get it working again they will have to be replaced. If it has just become corrupt you can try resetting the tomtomTo reset your TomTom device, do the following:

1. Check that the battery is charged properly. Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.
2. Remove the SD card If your device uses an SD card, remove it.
3. Reset your device. Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button for at least 15 to 20 seconds. See the pictures below for where to find the reset button.
4. Turn your device on. Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds.
5. Insert the SD card If your device uses an SD card, insert the SD card.

A lot of tomtom's had this problem a while back where they suddenly put safety lock on for no reason, it was a bug in the firmware,have you tried updating the tomtom to the latest version available through tomtom home?

When you type in postcodes into the TomTom you have to omit the space - for example, the postcode AB1 2CD would be typed in as AB12BC
