you might be able to get you device code by:

scroll through till you find 'show version'
select it & it may display your device code at the top?

I dont have my product code for my go 300. I've just tried to update my maps for the first time in 2 years, now it wants the product code to activate the updated maps. My wife threw the box and contents in the bin a long time ago. I told tom tom about my problem but they've told me I need to purchase a new map to get a new product code. Is there anything I can do before I buy a new map?
Im slightly confused???
what was it you need your product code for?
You brought new maps, that need a product code to install?
Now tomtom say you need to buy new maps to get a new product code?

hi, i have bought a new battery for my tom tom go 300 but dont know how to install it, can you help..
Remove the Front facia surround Undo four screws holding internal works to outside body You will need a T6 star screwdriver for this. Remove internal works from body at the base you will see silver foil covering feel over this you will find 4 T5 star screws securing this remove these and also remove speaker by two locating T8 star screws. Gently remove the electronic board keep all locating cables intact You will then see two T4 star screws holding battery holder remove these and the plastic holder .Unclip battery and disconnect from Pcb Board fit new battery and reassemble. .

Hi , I need help with a problem i brought a sat-nav s/hand but no installation disk can any 1 give me a free web site to get a installation plzzzzzzzzzzzzz
The tomtom GO 300 does not need an installation disk. It has firmware ( thats a sort of pre-installed software ) that is put on it at the tomtom factory. If the firmware has become corrupted it can be reinstalled or "updated" by logging on here > http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=17 then click the DOWNLOAD TOMTOM HOME Link. Then connect your tomtom to your computer with a USB lead. Run the TomTom-Home software you downloaded and select "UPDATE MY PRODUCT" . After that , if you don't already have one you will need a valid SD card for your tomtom containing the maps for your country and some other activation codes which you get when you purchase maps from tomtom.

How do you remove the cover of the tt1 v2 so as to fit new battery. cheers.
I too dropped my tom tom go 300. It appears the battery was disloged as it will only work if attached to another power source; AC Adapter or cigarette plug. Does anyone know how to open the case to check on the battery?

Hello,
I have accidentally plugged a 12v supply into my tomtom 500 ( which I think is basically the same component wise as the 300 ) and blown it up.
I know through reading posts on this forum that I am not the first idiot to do this. The unit is dead apart from the green light, on inspecting the panel U24 is burnt although U25 and the board print seem ok. My problem is identifying a surface mount component which got completely burnt up.
see pic
as you can see from the picture I have removed the component which I believe to be a diode. If anybody knows the value of the component and the number of a possible replacement I would be very grateful. I am led to believe that a 1N414n might be suitable but have been unable to obtain one.
If it is a diode I would also like to know which end the anode is soldered onto, as I say any info on the component would be great.
Many Thanks
Tony
that diode is a reverse polarity protection diode. An 1N414 will do ( available for very very little from almost ALL electronic component suppliers.) If there is NOTHING ELSE WRONG then the tomtom will still work without this diode. Its not needed in normal operation anyway. All it does is cause the fuse to blow in the cigarette lighter plug if the polarity is accidently reversed. Therefore , with a correct supply , it does nothing !

Is there a download for this manual that anyone knows of
http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/TOMTOM/GO%20300-_E
You
can download the manual for the GO 300 from the above link. If your
unit is different from the one you have listed above please let me know
and I can give you the appropriate link.
Thank you,
Lee
