Repairing Yamaha psr-12

If the power adapter is not the original adappter- check to make sure the polarity is correct- it should be marked on the keyboard near the adapter socket, and also on the adapter itself. The keyboard should have an internal fuse- check that. Then with keyboard open, if the fuse is okay, trace the power flow from the power pack and look for broken wires, bad solder connections, stressed components like bulging capacitors, etc. It may have a burned out zener diode in the power supply regulator portion of the main circuit.

Power falier

Power failure? First check the power supply / adaptor to ensure this is working correctly. Measure the voltage using a multimeter - if this is correct move on ( if not replace power supply ) Does the keyboard work if you hold the plug in the socket or move it slightly ? If so this is a common problem as the power socket on the pcb fails at the solder joint and will need to be repaired / replaced. If this appears to be solid then you may have done some internal damage by either plugging in a power adaptor with a too high voltage or wrong polarity. If this is the case you may have blown some circuitry inside which controls voltage regulation. Please report more if you have more information.

My Yamaha YPT-240 will not turn on. I messed around with the wire for a bit and it turned on for about 3 seconds - is it permanently broke or can I get a new lead?

You should get a new power adapter. Search for the YPT-240 Power adapter. You'll need the equivalent of the Yamaha PA130 DC 12V 1.0 A adapter. The original (<$20) and third-party power adapters are available from Amazon. First, I'd check if the YPT-240 will stay on with 6 AA batteries. That will rule out any internal problems before you order a replacement power adapter. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

Will a midi interface allow me to play downloaded music on a yamaha clainova 305

Yes, with some preparation. The music will have to be in a standard MIDI file format or a format that results in standard MIDI over USB output when "played" by computer software or an external sequencer. Within the software you will probably need to create a new "instrument" if there is not already a template for the CVP 305, otherwise the tracks and sub channels in the MIDI file will be patched to GM, probably not what you want to hear.

What is the best way to reprogram a Yamaha WX5 Ewi

Reprogramming a Yamaha WX5 Electronic Wind Instrument (EWI) typically involves adjusting settings, assigning functions to different keys, or customizing parameters to suit your preferences. Here's a general guide on how you might reprogram a Yamaha WX5:
  1. Access the Menu:
    • Turn on your Yamaha WX5.
    • Navigate through the menu options using the buttons or controls on the instrument. Refer to your WX5's user manual for specific instructions on accessing the menu.
  2. Select Parameter to Edit:
    • Once in the menu, find the parameter you want to edit. This could include things like breath sensitivity, pitch bend range, or assigned MIDI channels.
  3. Adjust Parameters:
    • Use the controls provided on the WX5 to adjust the parameters. This might involve turning knobs, pressing buttons, or using a combination of controls.
  4. Save Changes:
    • After making your adjustments, make sure to save your changes. The WX5 typically has a save or store function within the menu. Confirm the changes and save them to the instrument's memory.
  5. Refer to the Manual:
    • Consult the user manual for your specific Yamaha WX5 model. The manual will provide detailed information on navigating menus, adjusting parameters, and saving changes.
  6. Connect to a Computer:
    • Some advanced customization may require connecting your WX5 to a computer using MIDI. You can use Yamaha's dedicated software, if available, to reprogram certain parameters.
  7. Use External Sound Modules:
    • If you're using external sound modules or synthesizers, some customization may need to be done on those devices as well. Refer to the manuals for your MIDI equipment to ensure compatibility and proper configuration.
  8. Explore Advanced Settings:
    • Depending on your proficiency and the complexity of your WX5 model, you might explore more advanced settings like custom MIDI mapping or adjusting sensitivity curves.
Remember to approach reprogramming with caution, especially if you are not familiar with all the settings. Make note of the default settings before making changes, so you can revert to them if needed. Always refer to the user manual specific to your Yamaha WX5 model for accurate and detailed instructions on reprogramming and customization. If you're unsure or uncomfortable with the process, consider seeking assistance from Yamaha support or experienced professionals in electronic wind instruments.

I have a Yamaha US 1 organ. The foot pedal broke after 25 years of service at our church. I am trying to buy 4 part #15 foot pedal replacement pedal.. Can you help

My US 1 has had four broken pedals, and now has a fifth. I called Yamaha, and they DO have washers for the pedals but not until March. It is technically what they are calling a "failed instrument." So many of the parts have failed but been successfully replaced until now. The plastic in the pedals becomes old and brittle over time, then reaches a point where it just cracks off. The MDR has been rebuilt too, but is very temperamental. It doesn't allow me to copy discs any more. I'm trying to find a used one to replace it. Any ideas? [email protected]

You might have an internal fuse blown. If you are capable, open up the keyboard and visually look at the fuses. If one is blown, replace with the same amp rating. Good luck!
