Manfrotto (190XB,128RC) Tripod Questions & Answers
How do I replace a leg release lever of a manfrotto 190XB? One of the three leg release levers is missing. I ordered a spare part (R190,304), but I don't know how to put it in place.
Hi Stefan
Possibly some bad news for you..., the Part #R190,304 you ordered is not made for the #190XB tripod..., it is for a model several years older (though it MAY fit)..., (see link for correct parts diagram)!!!!

To easiest way to replace one of the top leg castings is to first remove the centre column and then support the tripod in such a way that the (3) legs are not touching the ground (i.e.: all the weight is supported by the casting through which the centre column would normally mount. You will then need to undo the (3) screw (allen key style) that pierce this casting...., (the reason for wanting to support the tripod via the bottom of this casting is that all the small parts SHOULD stay in place when the top casting is separated from the lower casting. Once this has been done..., carefully remove the leg with the damaged top casting...., replace it (making sure the new one is facing the right direction) & then reverse the procedure.
Hope this helps

Hi, I have just bought the 190CXPRO3 carbon fibre
Little confused here. Is the head the part you want to detach from an older set of legs? Do you want to remove center post from new legs or old legs. The base plate remains on the center post/ Aftre removing 3 set screws, and you want to remove the head from the baseplate and it will not turn, grap slip joint pliers or a pipe wrench, wrap the jaws with cloth ( to prevent marring of head or legs) and while holding head with wrench, have someone else turn legs

I cannot get my MHXPRO 2 w fluid head off my manfrotto 055 tripod both brand new. I have tried to follow the instructions but without succes
Try removing the centre column, then clamp it securely in a vice (or vise, if you prefer), packed with wooden battens to prevent damage.
Ensure that all the locks on the head are secured tightly. Then rotate the head counter-clockwise, and it should unscrew from the thread at thye top of the centre column.
If it still won't shift, try spraying a little WD40 or other such lubricant at the place where the head attaches to the centre column, leave it to soak in, then try again.
If you still have no luck, hie thee to thy local repair facility and humbly beg assistance from the artificer.

How do I switch the Manfrotto RC322C2 from right to left hand use?
I've looked at the spec, and it does not appear to be changeable, unfortunately. Unless you are absolutely wedded to the idea of using that particular head, there are others in the range that can be used with either hand. Check out the selection here :
Amazon co uk manfrotto headsThe one I use, for both stills & video, is the 804RC2. There are three handles, one for adjusting in each dimension, the main two being easily accessible from each side. Takes the standard Manfrotto Q/R plate as well.

How adjust the vertical viewing
are you just mounting a camera to the tripod itself? - you need to purchase a head as well - the head screws onto the top of the tripod, and then the camera fixes to the head, usually with a qr plate.

Convertible center column
Depending upon which model you have it could be as simple as turning the center column upside down. Without more info about the tripod this is the best I've got.

How should a Manfrotto fluid head be stored? Up or down
It shouldn't make a difference either way. The "Fluid" is so viscous and sticky that gravity is not going to be a factor. The "fluid" is trapped between interlocking disks, so it doesn't go anywhere. Avoid extremely high tempertures. That will cause the "fluid" to run. Just make sure you keep grit and dirt out of the working parts and your Manfrotto head should work for years.
