Zebra Z6M Plus Thermal Label Printer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Z6m won't stop feeding
I would venture a guess that the sensor that detects the labels isn't working well - it's supposed to see the difference between label and backing paper and stop at the correct position.
I can't get my computer running windows 7 to
Z6M+ printer doesn't have USB port, how do you connect this printer to Win 7 PC? if you are using parallel / serial converter to USB then good luck. Ideally to get zebra external printserver and connect the printer through the network.
Printing error condition
First clean the sensor tag and sensor head open and tape. Then perform a calibration label pressing the PAUSE and FEED buttons and turn on the printer, release the keys until it starts to move the label. Wait until you are finished and ready to print.
Everything I try to print is being shrunk.
Welcome to FixYa.Check the "Printing Properties" of the software you are using to print. The "scale to fit media" or an option to shrink the printout must have been turned on or checked. Depending on the software you are using to print, it is usually found at FILE > PRINT > Printing Properties.Thank you for using FIxYa.
Printer prints faint labels
Hi. Thanks for your question
Print fainting could be caused by number of reasons.
First think to check is ink roll. Replacing with new one would get this out of the way. If it still faints next thing I would do is once you opened the cover try and clean the print head and any visible rollers underneath the labels. Print heads can be cleaned with any alcohol solution. Best would be some kind of electronics cleaning solution. next thing to check would be labels themselves. It happened to me that labels where simply not very well finished and ink would not stick to them. Try roll of labels from other box you may have.
If this all failed and your printer still faints labels that it never used to it could be the worse. Your print head may need replacing although this is very unusual for them to fail in this way.
I hope this helped you. Please don't hesitate to come back and ask more questions if this is needed. I've worked with thermal printers for 7 years now and I am sure we can find some solution to your problem.
Thanks for using FixYa
Error print head open on Zebra 6m plus. Load
The sensor on this printer is a double sensor. The side close to the frame is the head open and the one on the outside is the ribbon present. It is adjustable. They both reflect off the chrome surface of the head assy. above them. First clean the chrome surface above the sensor and test before adjusting. There is one screw that you can loose and tilt the sensor to match the angle of the chrome plate above. Also the gap between the sensor and the chrome surface is .060in. or 1.5mm.
