If it is working , then it is nothing to worry about. If it is not printing, then it does not see the print head. Check the print head cables are securely connected.

Red light blinking in back
The red light is most likely indicating that the device is not connected to the network. Try rebooting the router/hub/etc. by disconnecting the power cord for 30 sec. and unplugging all wires. Then hook everything back up.
Only printing 1/2 a label
recalibrate the printer in the set up.
Don't just do a quick cal from the front panel.
Make sure your driver is the correct dpi zebra driver, either zebra or my preferred seagull scientific.
by .5 of the label, do you mean width or heigth.
If it is heigth, check to make sure you are set for top of print correctly. Also you will have to back feed for a label that short.

Zebra 110Xilll Plus Printer Not Recognizing Media
You can run the manual calibration from the menu , just follow the directions. Also run the sensor profile to print out the digital representation of the media sensor .If you are using standard label stock this should tell you if the transmissive sensor is good. Depends on the media, follow the users manual if different media requirements.

The printer thinks it is out of ribbon. If the condition exists and there is still ribbon in the printer, then try pressing the CALIBRATE key to have the printer readjust for the label / ribbon. If that does not help then press the SETUP key, press PREVIOUS until you see a setting called RIBBON LED. Make sure there is a value there - should be somewhere around 30-40. If it is above 100, then lower the setting to 30. Then press SETUP again and press SAVE for a permanent save.
Hope that helps !
Printer does not print in correct place after
Sounds like the printer is not getting the proper calibration on the label being used. After putting printer in pause and pressing calibrate button, a good calibration is indicated by the labels feeding, a slight hesitation, and the feeding a couple of more labels at a faster speed. If the labels just feed and then stop, that is not a good calibration. Then you have to make sure the top and bottom media sensor are properly aligned.
