My Xerox DocuMate 510 scanner has a flashing warning light.
Finally made it through to the technical support line. The problem is created by the cable from the lid to the body of the scanner not seating properly. You have to work the connection back and forth for half a minute while pressing it very firmly then screw in the attachments as tightly as possible. I am now scanning...
Error code 2019
Step 1 - Verify the scanner's power and connection
- Verify that the scanner is turnned on
- If the Check or Ready light on the scanner is flashing, click VIS1023 - Check Light Blinking on ADF Scanner for more information
- Check that the USB cable is connected to both the scanner and the computer
- It is recommended that the scanner be connected directly to the back of your computer with a 6 foot or shorter USB cable
Step 2 - Redetect the scanner in device manager
- Turn the scanner off
- Click Here and select "Run" or "Open"
- The Windows Device Manager will open
- Go to "View" and choose "Show Hidden Devices"
- Click the "+" next to "Imaging Devices". This will show all Imaging Devices previously and currently connected to the computer.
- If listed, right-click on the DocuMate 510 then left click on "Uninstall"
- If asked to confirm the uninstall, click "OK"
- If the scanner is listed more than one time, uninstall ALL occurrences of the scanner
- IF you see "?Other Devices" in the device manager list, click on the "+" to view the list of Other Devices
- Right click on any instince of the scanner in this list then left click on "Uninstall"
The scanner may be listed as any of the following:
- USB Scanner
- USB Device
- Unknown Device
- DocuMate 510
- Once the scanner has been completely removed from Device Manager, turn the scanner back on
If there is no Found New Hardware message when the scanner is turned back on and the scanner is not listed in Device Manager under Imaging Devices or Other Devices, this typically means the scanner is not communicating correctly with the computer. Try plugging the scanner into a different USB port or using a different USB cable.
