Keep the baby away from your equipment ... it is dangerous for the baby to be pulling on wires ...
Turn everything off ... everything ... unplug your router ... at the rear, find the small hole ... insert a paperclip into the hole ... depress and hold the small button inside for 30 or more seconds. Plug in the modem ... wait for it to settle down. Plug in the router power ... press the button again with the power on. Connect the uplink (wire from the router to the modem) ... let things settle down again ... plug in other network wires ... wait ... turn on your computer(s) you will now have a router that is back in new condition with factory settings ... if not ... replace the router, there is a fault in the device.

How to find the MAC address of a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router
If you have a Linksys WRT54GS wireless router and you need to find its MAC address for some reason, this article will walk you through the process of obtaining the address through the router's web interface. Other methods may be used instead -- such as Windows Vista's Network Map or a third party utility. (The MAC address is also printed on a sticker on the bottom of most routers, but if the router is hidden behind a computer desk or trapped in a tangle of wires, using the web interface will probably be easier.)
First, open a web browser window and type in your router's local IP address (typically, 192.168.1.1) and hit Enter. When prompted, type in your username and password to gain access to the router's interface.
Once you've logged in, the blue and black Linksys page will appear. Click on the Status tab (the last one on the right).
The MAC address is assigned to the network interface port inside the router, not to the actual router as a unit, so since the WRT54GS has two network interface ports (one for your local area network and one for access outside your network) it will therefore have two MAC addresses.
The MAC address for the port that connects to the wide area network or to your Internet service provider can be found under the Router heading beneath the Status tab. It will be listed below Firmware Version and Current Time, and it will appear as six pairs of letters and numbers separated by colons.
The other MAC address, the one for the local port, can be found under the Local Network heading, and it will be the first item listed there. Typically these two addresses will be very similar -- maybe separated by one or two digits.
I always have to unplug and then plug in my router

I want to have a passphrase but no key numbers,
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL, enter the login and password and then go to the wireless settings to configure the encryption setting. I suggest you use WPA or WPA2 encryption, this is the latest and strongest encryption method. You can enter the passphrase instead of hex numbers. Use this passphrase to configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop so it can connect to the Linksys wireless router.

Can't get to http://192.168.1.1
I assume that you're trying to log in the router's page for settings. Are you sure that it's 192.168.1.1? Confirm it this simple way:
Click on start - run - type cmd. At the new black window type ipconfig and hit enter. At the results locate the i.p. for Default Gateway. This is your router's i.p. Try to log in at this page.
In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer.

I have 2 wireless routers cascaded with each
Wired the 2nd router into another computer ( you only need the power and an ethernet cable into the #1 port of the router )
reset and power cycle the router. then type 192.168.1.1 into the address bar of your internet browser. type admin on the password field, leave the username blank.
-->if you like to setup the router as only an access point
- on the setup page of your router, disable the DHCP server and change the LAN ip of the router to 192.168.1.5
- go to the security tab and uncheck all the filters (don't forget to save the settings )
- go to the wireless tab and personalize the wireless network settings
- plug a cable into the ethernet port ( 1,2,3 or 4) of main router and plug the other end to the ethernet port on the 2nd router
- power cycle everything and you should be good
-->if you don't want to router to act as an access point
- just changed the ip to 10.10.10.1, save the settings
- go to the wireless tab and personalize the wireless network settings
- plug an ethernet cable into the ethernet port on the main router, connect the other end to the internet ( yellow ) port of the 2nd router
hope this helps

When I origionally set up my wireless router I set
On the computer that you use the to configure the router for the first time, there should be a "linksys.txt" file on it. You should find all the router info there. If you don't have it anymore, the only option is to reset and reconfigure the router.
