I have used a UMAX

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. With the issue that you have there can be 2 possible source of the problem the Firewire Converter or the Port. For us to make sure which is the cause we need to test if first. Since that it is working fine on the old iMac it only means that the scanner is fine. However for us to test if the problem is the port or the cable the only way you can do it is to either use a different Firewire 400 to 800 or use the Firewire 400 ot 800 and the scanner on a different machine. After that we will be able to know which is causing the issue

If you have questions please let me know. Thanks for using Fixya

Powerlook Umax 1100 Flatbed scanner & Mac 10.5.5 Driver's..?

Looks like they'll let you buy Silverfast SE for just ... $49. Wow. Expensive price for just a driver.

On the premise you may not need the Silverfast software per se, just the driver, you may be able to, after investigating the legality, try a demo version of a Silverfast product and see if you can keep the driver itself after you get uninstall Silverfast.

Hello, yes you will just need a firewire 400 (6 pin) to 800 (9 pin) cable as the new iMac no longer supports the 6 pin connector.

Umax mirage II not working, not recognized on xp

Hi. I have a Mirage II A3 scanner that was working fine till I save it in a closet a few years ago. Now I need it again, but I don´t have the PC I used to have with ISA port... I finally found a brand new PCI card I had in another Umax scanner, so I connected it to the PCI slot in my actual PC. And I cannot connect the scanner... I installed the software correctly, but in Test mode, it gives me a Link failure. Besides, the scanner does its setup when powered on, the lamp goes from right to left, stays there a few seconds and return to its original position. But the UTA and READY lamps keep blinking... I found this page:https://ask.adaptec.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1869/~/scanner-test-link-failures-with-umax-scanner, that explains this can be fixed upgrading the software, but the link does no longer exist... Could you please send me the software I need to connect it..? It´s really important I can do this. I have a huge job to do but it doesn´t work... I´l be waiting for your answer. THANKS!!

UMAX PowerLook 2100xl scanner termination

Only one termination should be powered in a SCSI chain. Generally, it should be the last device. It's been a long time since I've worked with SCSI, but I recall that scanners may be picky about where in a chain of multiple devices they are located; electrical noise on the SCSI data lines causes problems with the scanner electronics. I don't recall whether best results are found from locating it as the first device in line from the computer or the last device.
