To access the Toshiba recovery partition, power off the laptop. Hold down the 0 (zero) key and turn the laptop on. Toshiba Satellite A45-S120 laptop battery does not charge

Sounds like you need a new battery. Try removing the battery and running the machine on mains power. If that works, you know the charger is ok. Its usual for batteries to deteriorate over a few years, so my money would go on a new one.

Am getting a system cooling

You should be able to hear and feel the fan spinning. The air should also come out of the laptop usually on the left or right side near the hinges of the laptop.

It is also possible that the cooling system has not failed completely, in other words it is operational but not running efficiently.

Be sure to raise the laptop off the table to allow air to be sucked in from the bottom of the laptop.
It may need a service and a clean.

Hi johnnygriff5
The boot loader files are either corrupted or missing. To repair this problem, boot with the Windows XP CD-ROM and choose the option to install. On the next screen, choose repair to repair your Windows installation. When the repair process is finished, you will be able to boot back into your operating system without losing data or having to reinstall software.
If however this doesnot work then, please perform the following steps:
1. Insert the Window XP installation CD-ROM in the CD drive and boot your PC from the CD-ROM. 2. When the Welcome to Setup screen is displayed, press R to open Recovery Console. 3. Next, press the number key that corresponds to the operating system installation you want to repair. (This is required only when you have multiple operating systems on your PC.) 4. Login using a user with administrative privileges to your system. 5. Next, on the Recovery Console screen type the following commands ie chkdsk then fixmbr and press Enter after each command to execute them.
If you have some more questions, please let me know. Otherwise, please leave positive rating and feedback. Thanks :)

I don't know how to use wifi on my Toshiba A45 S120

Open the Network Settings program. Click on the Control Panel in your "Programs" bar and select "Network Settings." This will give you options for modifying how you connect to the Internet. Select "Connect to a Network" or "Show Network Status and Tasks." Both selections will show you whether you are disconnected from the wireless network. Select "Manage Network Connections." This selection is located on the left side of the window; clicking on it will show you whether you are connected to a local area connection or wireless network connection. Engage the wireless connection. Turn your wireless switch to "On," then right-click on the wireless network connection. Select "Connect/Disconnect." Wait for the IP address acquisition. It may take a few minutes for your Toshiba Satellite to pick up the signal and transmit your IP address. When this is complete, you will see the word "Connected" next to the name of your wireless connection, and a series of bars that indicate signal strength. Launch your favorite browser to access the Internet using the wireless connection.
