So first make sure you have proper and contact current in the outlet being used. A simple tester and some wiggling is the easy but not most thorough way. It is probably the lock assembly itself that is bad. I just replaced mine, a 20 minute job. You should be able to reset the machine and unlock the lock by using a series of turns on the knob after re-plugging it in. check onYou tube for the exact model of your washer. Don't try to remove the control panel assy. the top of the washer should lift up if you slide a thin painters trowel in the front to release the clips and then push the top toward the back about half an inch and then pull forward while lifting.
