I have never used one and would like instrctions on what I do for stock scanning and also ticket making

there is software on this unit that needs to loaded by the client server software from symbol. I been in the retial operations for a while and these things happend when the battery gets so darn low that the memory on these units seem to corupt the files. Now symbol is the best bet to get the software reloaded and will be your solution today.

There is really nothing you cannot do without the unlisted help of symbol as the software needs to be reloaded on this unit as a fix. Now lets say it does not take the software for some odd strange reason. then you need to have the hardware looked at. Now repair of these units are $150 respectively as far as hardware failure goes. But call symbol and ask them about the software reload I am talking about. Now the unit should have cable with a cradle to dock with the server to upload and download data in this case that is what needs to be done.

The PDT6840 has 3 files loaded into it at any one time LWP.HEX, UDP.HEX and an application. SLOADI comes up on the screen during boot. You may require reloading of the software to enable this function again.

Yes...there are lots of things you need to tweak. Contact Motorola Support (they bought Symbol) at 1-800-653-5350. You may need to create a script to run with the CISCO AP's...Symbol defaults to their own Access Point settings. Good Luck. If you need further help, our company, qdata, can help (for a fee)

This sounds like a programming issue. What application are you using? If you are using a terminal emulation software then you will need to check your host for the issue. If you are using a batch program where the files are stored on the scanner then you will need to check your "validation" files to make sure the code you are scanning is in the scanner.

you can get it from www.wavelink.com they are quite good and still offer the files for the older terminals. however, you may need to get a license from them in order to use it on the pdt.

Next you will need to load the application that you require. LWP and UPD just contains part of the OS and the radio drivers. What application are you planning to use? Telnet application?

You will need to extract the files from the terminal to be able to edit them normally and then rebuild the hex file to reload on to it.

There are two commands that you may want to try on the terminal but i doubt you will be able to modify the file.

flshctl /w will enable you to write on the flash.
flshctl /ro will disable the write option.
