Laptop screen goes blank
I do not believe you have lost your laptop.
Could be several issues, but from what it sounds like may be something interfering with your current video driver.
Although a fresh install of your OS (operating system) may resolve the issue, you would need to back up every important file. Do not take an image of the HDD (hard disk drive) as the current drivers would also be reused.
You can also simply attempt to dump the current video driver and allow the OS to search for another.
If you have a VGA port, you can use another monitor to test if it will stay on. If an external monitor stays on, than you have a software issue which is WAY easier than losing your entire laptop.
Doesn't sound like its an over heating issue.
I cannot promise these suggestions will fix your issue as I dont know which OS you are using, but if its Windows, you should be able to fix it rather easily.

No volume when playing movies
The Problem> Sound: Placing the mouse pointer over the ICON to the lower right of your screen should indicate the percentage of Volume your speakers are adjusted for. Right click and you get the Open Volume Mixer section. The playback devices can be your computer speakers or a separate headset with microphone. Here you can make adjustments accordingly. At the bottom are Volume Control Options that allow you to increase or decrease the audio reception. Generally, when you insert an external Headphone with Microphone into the sound port in; an automatic disconnect may occur preventing computer speakers from working. This is common with Laptops. If you lack sound, you may need to update the sound drivers, change cables, and/or check to see if the speakers work on another device.

My microphone is not working on toshiba satellite
Recommendations from Toshiba:
Windows 7 and earlier
The information below is designed to help solve your microphone not working properly. This does not cover problems related to specific programs or third-party microphone hardware and software.
If your laptop microphone is not working properly, ensure it is not disabled:
- Open the Start Menu and type "Sound" in the search field.
- Select "Sound" from the results.
- Select the RECORDING tab and select the desired microphone. Default microphone is Realtek High Definition Audio.
- Click "Properties" to view and modify settings.
Reloading the sound driver may resolve this issue.
- Open the Start Menu and type "Device Manager" in the search field. Select "Device Manager" from the results.
- Locate and select "Sound, Video and Game Controllers."
- Identify the sound devices.
- Right-click on each one and select "Uninstall".
- Reboot the computer.
- Your drivers will automatically install. Third-party drivers may need to be reinstalled manually.
Information in the link below can also assist with adjusting microphone volume.
I have included the link for the Toshiba Website support:

I have toshiba c660. its built webcam was working
Restart the computer and see if the blue light comes back on by itself.
If you are still having problems visit the Toshiba support site for your
country (or region). Download the webcam application compatible with
your version of Windows (32 bits, 64 bits) and reinstall the
application. Test it using the Start>Toshiba>Utilities>Webcam
Application, or the Face recognition software. You close the running
application by clicking the x at the top right corner of the application
