How do I install sata drivers
The problem is that XP installation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on a disk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then, XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS and disable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is a IDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows has been installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver), then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

Sound system
If you haven't spilled anything on the Tosh or dropped it then there really shouldn't be any reason for the speaker to stop working. The speaker connector is very easy to get to. If you are confident to do a little dismantling that is. See the strip that runs along above the keyboard? This can be levered out carefully preferably using a plastic tool or screwdriver. Underneath here are four small screws which secure the keyboard in place. Once these are removed, tilt the keyboard up and towards the screen and then you have the option of releasing the keyboard ribbon connector if you need to. The speaker connector is black and red wired and is located roughly below where the 6 is on the upper keyboard. Maybe it has dislodged and just needs pressing back in. If this isn't the problem, then further diss assembly will be required to gain access to the speaker for further inspection

My toshiba satellite c660-2dl laptop will not turn on it only has the power button for 2 secs then it turns off i tryed the 20 second solution didnt work any suggestions
Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact. Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

Both USB ports are broken
Unfortunately the C660 does not have a pc card/ esata interface for you to get an extender card. At this point, the options you have are to see if the system is in warranty or see if you could purchase the motherboard from Toshiba. An alternate would be to see if a local tech could resolder the ports for you... however your mileage may vary. I’m happy to help further over the phone at

Toshiba satellite c660 motherboard not power
When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Toshiba sattelite c660 restart
Try to access the BIOS screen, as check for the hardware helth and connection status.1) Black screen shows fault in RAM check he slot settings or other RAM.2) If device shuts down itself in 2 seconds as you said, there might be a fault with the mother board or SMPS circuit which is not at related to any quarantined file by your AV.Regards:Himanshu

Cant get into my bios
Is there a BIOS password? There is also a boot menu option doing boot without making changes in BIOS. Try F9 or F10... It's one of them.

My toshiba satellite C660-162 crashes and shuts down during skype video calls, uploading a video on you tube and during downloading a file
you might have to many programs trying to or accessing your computer or the internet at the same time or a virus
scroll to bottom toolbar (bottom of screen) right click select task manager
applications you will see whats running
if you see anything you dont need running select end now and you might uninstall that specific
program if you or computer does not require it to run and
some unnecessary programs that could be jamming up your computer
also under processes see what is ticking over in the background again if you see something you dont need to be running select end now your computer might not have enough ram using video and youtube will put more strain on the CPU central processing unit
Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules
you should always ask for a guarantee on compatability before purchasing any ram and buy working pairs if possible
you might have to many programs running at the same time putting to much strain on the CPU
try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs hope this helps
