Normally, you would push in on the knob to set to a cycle then pull out on knob to start machine. Am i correct? So when you push in to set the cycle it just spins?

Check the interlock tab (upright models) or the hinge or latch switch (front-load.) Sometimes these switches break or simply come loose.

I don't know your make model and serial #. But it normally should stop at or near where it says stop.

Simpson Esprit... | Answered on Apr 20, 2016

The machine has a cut off inside that should cut supply when enough has entered so cut off or sensor fault try run it empty see if its actally overfilling as the pump should remove excess i may be blocked

I assume you mean over flow? 2 main reasons. First check that inlet valve is shutting off. Start machine & let water flow in for a few seconds then stop the machine (lift lid or press timer in) Water flow should stop quickly. If it is slow to stop or does not stop at all then change the inlet valve for a new one. Try it several times. If all good and stops quickly then take the back panel off the machine & look inside on the right. Locate the rubber air tube from the bowl up to the panel. Inspect the tube for any worn part, any splits or holes. If found then replace the tube. It has to be air tight.

if it is a top loader then try repositioning the lid micro switch as it is also the balance micro switch and in moving the machine the bowel probably fell sideways and the lever got on the wrong side of the micro switch

please check the door switch or leak the door switch for test and check the capacitor motor

Simpson Esprit... | Answered on Jan 31, 2015

I would suggest either motor coupling or motor starting capacitor .replace capacitor first as is easy job if it still doesn't work check motor coupling . these are probable causes . capacitor about twenty five aus dollars

Simpson Esprit... | Answered on Nov 18, 2014

The motor coupling joins the shaft of the motor base to link to the agitator . un plug machine , remove capacitor - this is usually not near motor it is usually under control panel at top of machine it is cylinder shape and usually white or black an has between two and four wire plugged in to it . it looks like a battery and will have a number eg 10 uf .. If only two wires reinstall either wire either spot .if more than 2 mark them for reassembly . leave capacitor out and disconnected while working on machine for you safety even when machine unplugged ...it stores a charge !!!!!! Now to replace coupling ..... Remove motor . take top off motor . look at it and see shaft in center . coupling will be in two price with rubber or similar to cushion between each piece . the two halv s of coupling will obviously slot together in opposition to each other .replace both sides of coupling and rubber cushion . it will be obvious how to install. Reinstall top to the motor , bolt motor back in . check wire harness is clear of moving parts . reinstall capacitor . plug in machine and wash your clothes happily once again. I suspect you have a whirl pool machine as this is that machines common fault . have fun . not a hard job.

ok, this is a tricky one so here are a few things to check, first open door and spin drum any direction. watch drum and also listen while it spins. do this a few times to ensure you have listened or see any possible issues like: unusual grinding noise, tub out of round," wobbling", rubbing anywhere on front rubber door boot or plastic slivering around area of plastic pieces. if that is ok then with two fingers and gentle lift upper part of basket slightly to check for ant slop or slack in rear bearing. if thats ok then next check to make sure that all four feet are firm not to allow washer to, "teeter totter" form two feet to other two feet. lean on top from side to side and make sure unit is stout or firm footed on ground. last is to make sure your floor is not weak. dose your dryer shake bad when washer goes into spin. this is a cause of out of balance. make sure your loads are same materials. imagen when there wet if they would weigh the same or balance out when there around inside basket spinig. thank you for reading this and hope it helps.
