@Kenneth Ella: In my Peugeot 206 1.4 (TU engine series), tightening the thermostat housing bolts with a torque 20 nm was the breaking of the thread in the engine head. I think, correct torque is about 10 nm (8-12 nm).

That model was sold with a choice of 3 engines. On all the crankshaft is located at the bottom of the engine, above the sump, and the camshaft at the top of the engine under the cam cover. .

Sounds like to me it is the cable that is rubbing inside the case as it is coming apart. Change it first.

Without checking your car physically, its not possible to give you any idea what it could be or not

Try checking the tailgate allignement / shutting correctly as this will auto open the locking request from your key/bipper, if the boot switch is not fully operated,

Disconnect the battery totally and get a battery charger on to it so it is back to full charge. Leave it disconnected for 3-5 hours while it is charging and then reconnect. While the battery is disconnected, make sure any electrical connections you played with when working on the car have been properly connected back up. When changing electrical items on the car, including sensors, you should always disconnect the battery first,

Get it scanned for error codes. Could be throttle body TPS problem.

In this model, the gearbox should be fitted with speed sensor, as it provides the info of vehicle speed to the instrument panel(dashboard) by means of speedometer and the total distance covered. So, does the speedometer work proberly, does the needle move correctly? If yes, you have to change the instrument panel. if the answer is no, then the speed sensor is not working, either the sensor itself or one of its wires is broken. Notice that this sensor is a hall-effect type, which means that there are 3 pins on the sensor , 1st is 12V supply, 2nd is 0V (earth) 3rd is a signal wire that transfers signal to the points I mentioned above. goooooood luuuuuuuuuuuck
