Ouch, well I am assuming it doesn't start the walking belt until the Start button is pressed, then speeds up to Max? What is the frequency of the knock? Is it every second, few seconds, or very fast? This can tell if it has something to do with the track or the motor.

I would say the blown fuse was definitely "a" problem but not necessarily THE problem. Something caused the fuse to blow and it is likely with the belt drive system as the lift was still working. Look for burned or shorted places on the PCB and check the motor. You will definitely need another fuse - get 3 or 4! There are several motor troubleshooting vids on utube. If this one isn't helpful, try some others.
