Buy a new compatible Samsung DVDRW (better than CD). Cost only about $20. or else, try this

In Device Manager, delete CDROM driver and close it.

a. Click on Start --> Run --> and type in 'regedit' followed by the enter key

b. Expand the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" key (looks like a folder) by double clicking it (or clicking the "+" next to it.)

c. Expand the "SYSTEM" Key

d. Expand the "CurrentControlSet" Key

e. Expand the "Control" Key

f. Expand the "Class" Key

g. Look for a key containing the following string of letter and numbers: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

h. Highlight this key

i. On the right hand side you are looking for "UpperFilters" and "LowerFilters" under the "Name" column, once you find these delete them by right clicking on them and choosing "delete"

j. Exit the registry

Reboot let Windows XP reinstall generic CDROM driver.

This happens when the drive motor inside dies.
You can take a small paperclip and insert it into the tiny hole you find in the face of the drive to manually open the tray. Use this method to remove any disk stuck inside of the drive currently. go to www.newegg.com for a cheap replacement drive.

You may have : - Dirt cd rom lens ( please clean it with cd cleaner ) - Scratch cd ( please check your cd) or wrong format cd? please try other cd to check your cd room - Or do you have a defective lens ( step 1 and 2 above will led you to know this) - Or maybe do you encounter problem during install the driver ( if yes, you need to re install the driver)

Dirty lense? Best to get a new one. It maybe the motor aswell. CD drives are normally about £10

you want to check the wire is connected or not if the wire is connected then take cpu to the workshop and then check out your motherboard it may possible the problem of motherboard

yes you can use graphic card such as (AGP) if your motherboard has AGP slot on the motherboard, before installing the graphic card, goto CMOS setup by pressing F2 or Del key while your system bootups and disable the onboard display in the setup and save it, then switch off your computer, then install the graphic card and start your computer hope your computer will works fine.

you have a PCI express slot, the topmost slot, made for a internal 16X PCI-E video card built into the motherboard. Installing it will require you to remove the case or side of the computer (usually two phillips head screws) and inserting the card into the PCI-E slot, adding any extra power connector if needed , then installing the software drivers that come with the video card..------

Indeed it is a software problem. This was a known issue with Microsoft, and you can follow this link to download the patch that will rectify the problem.

There are very many problems that It could be when you cannot open the cd rom drive, the best way to find out the problem would be to remove the drive that wont open and open the top, have a look inside and see if there is anything that could be causing this.
If you had a more detailed problem then people might have better answers. sorry

When i am trying to close my tray then the tray goes inside and comes back after several times of my try sometimes it may work or sometimes it won't work .and the cd is also detecting sometimes i fed up with this plz give a solution...

have you tried by changing the data cable and putting the rom to another ide slot
