Mac os x 10.5.8
Man, that's an old MFP. I still work on those though. The problem is driver compatibility in the MAC OS. I haven't had to troubleshoot with that OS. Sorry This is what I could find in the Product Service Guide for the 1515MF:Printer Utility for Mac • This software provides several convenient functions for printing from Macintosh clients. It does state on the Ricoh Technician's Site that the firmware for this printer must be updated and each firmware must be installed one at a time, not as a batch. You would need a small SD card about 256MB is more than enough. The card is placed in slot 2 and the slots are covered by a thin plastic plate on the left side of the printer near the Ethernet port. you need either a philips or a 5.5mm nut driver to remove the one screw holding that plate in place. The printer must be turned off before you take out the one chip in Slot 1. YOU MUST REMOVE ANY CHIPS THAT ARE ALREADY IN SLOTS BEFORE INSTALLING ANY FIRMWARE UPDATE SD CHIPS. YOU MUST MAKE SURE YOU RETURN THOSE CHIPS BACK TO THEIR CORRECT PORT OR YOU CAN CORRUPT THE MAIN BOARD AND THE MACHINE IS KAPUT!!!Sorry, That's important to put in capitals.Good luck.
Paper tray is full but
Hello info66414,
Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!
You are correct! The Do-hickie is actually called the "Paper Tray Sensor Flag" and it isn't supposed to be dangling down. When it is dangling and won't stay seated, it has been broken by accidental replacement of the paper drawer.
You will have to get ahold of your local Ricoh Repair shop and have them replace this sensor for you. Then it should detect paper properly again.
Have a great day!
