What is the problem before I can tell you what needs to be done

An SC990 is usually an error indicating maintenance is overdue. The only way to verify that is by printing out the SMC report and seeing the subcodes. In the case of this model when is the last time the drum and developer was replaced?

Are you talking about the tray 1?

Is the copier not feeding? There are many problems that could be causing this.

- The feed roller could be dirty or worn. The feed roller sits on the upper right side of the paper tray -- it's a thick gray roller. Clean this roller with a lint-free rag and some alcohol.

- The paper fences might not be tight. There are two paper fences (one toward you and one on the far side of the paper, away from you). Make sure these fences are tight enough so that the paper does not move around in the tray, but not too tight to keep the paper from being fed out of the tray. Also make sure the green guide on the left side of the paper is snug but not too tight.

- The paper could be damp, curly, or full of static. Damp paper is a big problem, especially in the summer. Try filling the tray with a fresh **** of paper and see if it feeds through better. Also make sure none of the pages in the tray are bent or folded under.

Hi,

You can try this to reset:

- Pres the reset key
- Type 107 on the keypad,
- Press and hold down the clear/stop key until the display changes,
Turn OFF the Main power switch and then ON again, (The main switch placed under a lid or on the side of the printer. Not the power switch close to the keypad)

cleaning the drum wont help sounds like waste extraction coil is blocked
very very very common on those copiers and cleaning blade is contaminated,or you didnt keep it level when u moved it.In any case ull need engineer to fix it,unless u brave enough to take the drum unit apart and hoover all the toner/paper dust from the waste coil.Just dont touch any metal bits on your hoover ull get electric shock, have fun.

Must be the drum itself then, or fuser??

The paper sensor may be having some issues
