ADD TONER BLACK
If the toner is an original you should not have a problem unless the Developer unit is faulty. The developer unit mixes the toner with the dev. If the dev unit TD (Toner Density) sensor is not working then it will not add toner. Try the following.
- Remove black drum unit
- Remove Black Developer unit
- Tap the develop unit and shake side to side 5-6 times
- Reinstall both units close covers and open toner cover
- wait 15 seconds then close the cover
Hopefully then you will add toner if not the likely thing is that the developer unit will need replacing.
Hope this helps
Thanks J

Fusing unit is not set properly
turn the printer off and reinstall the unit after it has cooled off (30 minutes). Then open cover B and D. Remove the fuser unit, then reinstall it properly. Close covers D and B. The error clears automatically if the fuser unit is properly installed.
If the error is not cleared, the fuser unit is out of order. Replace it with a new fuser unit.

Where in the world are you ?? as I am in england and I know of a few dealers that do this machine. Does it have to be new or just working?

Service Mode
The service mode for an AP3800c printer only is different from the copier version. push down the up and down arrows together for a count of 7. Then push the enter key (#). The screen should now show "engine" in the window. If you are resetting a function you will need to arrow down to "service" then push enter (#) again. Use the escape key to exit from the sub menus. To exit back out of SP mode you will need to select "end" at the top line menu pressing enter to accept.
Head cleaning
This is that the black drum unit cleaning blade failed or the charge roller has toner stuck on it. To remove the drum open the front cover and using the green tool right hand side of opened door undo the two screws turn the transfer lock into the unlock position and lift. Once you have done this then remove the black drum this is the one at the top by moving the little green tag to one side and pulling out (Be Careful as if you scratch the drum you will have other problems)
Once remove you will be able to see the drum and a black roller above it see if that has the black line on it. If it has then clean with some alcohol based cleaning fluid once this is done reinstall and then print. If there is no line on the black roller try above the likely thing is that the drum cleaning blade has worn and the unit will need replacing.
Glad to be of some help
Thanks J
Ricoh AP3800C SC385
The code means the machine is not seeing the correct toner amount on a small test patch it uses for calibrating itself. It will probably need a service call. The one thing you can try is to replace the Black PCU and the Black Developerment unit at the same time. This may get it to recal itself. If its not this then there is not really much a non technical person can do. You can find consumables for these on ebay for about half of what you would pay a dealer. Good luck and if I see you post again I will try and help you.
Add Toner
Your machine has got a toner pump on each of the colours wich transport the toner through pipes , these pipes get blocked and needs to be vacuumed out to clear the blockage .i got the service manuals if you need any further assistance
Printing fuzzy / bleed text with fuser saying needs changing soon!
Hi the blurring maybe down to the machine needing a color registration. Press the menu button then press either the up or down arrow to Maintenance press enter or # the using the up down keys again select color registration enter or # then print registration sheet once printed select M Y C or B and input the number that is on the printed sheet that corresponds to the straightest line. Once you have done this exit and try printing.
If that doesn't work then within the driver on the computer under printers and faxes right hand click on the printer select properties. Within properties you will be able to change the graphic mode please try this.
The fuser unit will need changing as they only have a life span there are no benefits to resetting as you will need to change it anyway. If you do not change the fuser then it will break leaving you with a bigger problem.
I do hope the above works for you.
Thanks J
