Troubleshooting Procedure:
1. Check if the pressure roller thermistor
is firmly connected.
2. Replace the fusing unit.
3. Replace the BCU.

Welcome to Fixya. It would seem that the "paper jam error" is common with this model. Apparently, the roller pin on the fuser unit is the culprit. The roller pin could be loose or even dislodged.
Could check if you could separate the fuser oil unit from the fuser unit? Both ends has roller pin that has to fit just right with no wobble, looseness or misalignment. You can use this manual and might help you in the removal refer to page 7

If the line is only red or pink, it is most likely caused by the magenta PCU. Replace this PCU and your problem will go away.
Occasionally the magenta developer unit can cause a red or pink line, but the problem is more than likely from your magenta PCU. The PCU is easy to replace, and instructions will come in the box if you order an OEM replacement unit.
I need to change the transport belt on a Lanier
There is no way to describe this in an email. Just disassemble starting from the front cover of the trans asm. Check the old belt when you take it off, one side of the belt has an encoder strip built into it.

SC is for "Service Call". The error may be caused by a defect or an irritation of internal sensors.
Ricoh recommends to physically switch off the printer, wait for a few minutes and power on again. (Irritation by change in surrounding temperature)
If you recently replaced any movable parts inside, remove it again and reseat, many parts inside are checked by sensors for proper seating.
If this does not help, you need to call Ricoh customer service.
Error code SC551
Hi SimonCC,
This is a fuser temp. problem -- must reset and/ or replace thermistors.
Press clear modes button then 1-0-7 then hold down the clear stop button.
When display changes touch copy sp modes.
Turn may power off and wait about 30 sec.
Turn power on.
If the machine comes to ready you are ok for now.
If code returns you must replace thermistors.
You may check various websites for thermistors like ebay, spareparts etc......

Most of the time it is the transfer belt. The belt has gotten scratched up with age and the mach has trouble doing the line position adj.
Printer with parallel port not "seen" on my Mac
I've never had much luch running parallel printers on UNIX systems, it seems that a serial connection works without any trouble.
At any rate, have you tried hooking it up to a stationary windows machine, and then sharing it using windows networking.
Then, you could simply print to it by using SMB...
I've done this before and it seems to work fine.
