Canon EOS-10D Digital Camera Questions & Answers
How do I fix a problem
The camera is a sick puppy and in need or repair/replacement. Check with Canon re repair cost and decide what to do.
There is nothing you can do to remedy the situation.
Every shot is coming out black
Have to checked to see if your exposure compensation settings are set to way underexpose your images? This will override all settings and darken your photos. Does it do it when you have the camera set on auto and/or manual? If not, and the images don't come out in the camera and on a computer then there may be an issue with the auto aperture in the lens. Try a different lens and see if it persists. There could also be a shutter issues but you'd usually get an error message with both these problems.

Have you got it on settings that allow enough light through? Make sure you don't have it on something like 1/4000 of a second or apeture 1/22, you won't let enough light through to take a picture. Otherwise, it's a hardware fault in your camera, and if it happens again with different lenses you'll need to get the body fixed
When i power off it shows it is still turned on
First, make sure that you downloaded any photos so that you don't lose them. Next, open the battery cover and remove the battery. Count to twenty, then put the battery back. Try switching on and off and see if that cures the problem. If not, remove the battery again and look to see whether there is a secondary lithium watch size battery in the battery compartment. If so try removing and replacing it. Then put the main battery back and try switching the camera on and off. Then remove the memory card and try switching it on and off. Then, if it still won't shut off, try going through the menus and reset the camera to factory/default settings.

Remove the CF card from the camera and test it in a media reader connected to a PC, if you have one. If you do not have a reader, do you have a second CF card for your camera? It is possible that the card has failed, it does happen, although not very often. The key is that you want to isolate the problem to either the card or the camera and the easiest way to do that is to try another card in the camera.
I need to download photos

Windows Vista need no additional drivers to work with this camera model... Software and utilities for this camera could be downloaded from
here.
Anyway, if you're having problem with connecting the camera to the laptop - connect only the
memory card! Most of the laptops have a built-in card reader, so it should be easy to use it...

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.
Install fully charged batter, turn
Is your battery new? Try to use another battery to isolate the problem. Even if you're saying that the battery is fully charged, there are chances when the battery fails. If it is under warranty, I would suggest that you ask for a replacement. Batteries fail due to overcharging or the camera not being "safely removed" from the computer.
