Check the wireless router for the security key and insert

first i would download and install this program http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php that will tell you all the networks being broadcast and what channel they are on ideally you want to be on channel 1 or 6 or 11 - as they do not overlap
you should be able to download a manual from here http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/downloads/
you need to login to the router and then goto the wireless section and changed the channel there

check the ip address + mask

If you've forgotten the wireless security key you entered when you set up the router you can reset it by connecting to the router directly with an ethernet cable instead of the wi-fi. Plug a cable into the router and then laptop and access the setup page for the router. See the manual (or download one from the buffalo site) for setup instructions.

Create a password reset CD on another computer, then boot from CD in the locked computer, and it will allow you to reset your password.

You may want to check and see what kind of connection limitations are in place.

The router should have a static IP address *(like 192.168.1.1) or something close to that written on it.

You can use your web browser to log into your router and look at the settings.

u set up ur buffalo airstation on the 1st laptop tat is working fine,,and at tat time u secured ur wireless network.so tat no one can else can connect to it..specially ur neighbours..u have to use tat password on the new computer.and tat will do it

I have just had exactally the same problem,
Right, what you need to do is, go to "help & support" for the start menu, when that has loaded search device manager.
Then click on the first [yellow] question mark you see under "network adaptors". The it will come up as, a property box, then click re-install driver, during the process of re-installing a box will appear, like mine did as we both have the same computer/laptop,saying something like; "window's dose not support this" there are 2 options continue installation or stop, click continue & then go to client manager and see wether your wireless card been picked up, if that failed try clicking other question marks & re-installing then. It may be related.

what are you trying to install ? you may want to run the installalation using the "Run as..." command

If the power went out...it could have serged the router...try holding in the reset button for 30 sec....if no luck there take the router back where you purchased it and tell them it is faulty and needs replaced.

you may need to dissable your wired lan adapter as it will be looking to assign the same ip address and you need it to assign to your wireless adapter. Asuming your router is wireless enabled as some are not be default and make sure your router has DHCP enabled to automatically assign ip addresses to your pc,s

• Hard drive producing a clunking sounds.
• Hard drive making buzzing sounds.
• Hard drive making a grinding sound.
• Its best you try and save all data to another drive asap.

Did you place any magnets or magnetic tools near the drive? if so your drive is busted and you need to take it to a software retrieval company to get the data back. it may be expensive

use a new ethernet cable

If you can accesesed an Apple with IOs look for the Disk Tools and click on your dribe and delete it, then try it to plug in in Windows go to Managment Disk Uitly and reapartition and then format it.

Go to the manufactures website and download the drivers and software.

If your are talking about taking computer password.You can follow this steps... windows XP operating system. 1)go to start button on left hand bottom side....click on start 2)Find Control-Panel---->click on it. 3)Find User Accounts.---->Double click on it. 4)you need to select your account....eg if your account name is(max) or (admin) select it.... 5)You will see the option....create a password.... 6) select that .....IT will first ask you for your old password then your new password....in new password keep it blank....Save it. 7)This should remove your computer password for windows XP.
