This is the technical solution, you have to open the unit:
Locate IC33 and connect pin 6 to ground, connect power, and then remove the ground connection at pin 6.
The unit will then boot up in factory default.

Hi Michael, check inside your NAD C542, there are 4 fuses, check that none is open, if all are well, you could have problems with the capacitors in the area of the power supply or in the case of the Transformer
If you do not have technical capabilities to evaluate the above, consult a specialized technical service
I hope you can solve the problem
Greetings Franco Dosil

Check the rectifier diodes in the power supply for shorts and look at all the filter capacitors in the power supply. Look for puffy discolored and domed tops. All filter capacitors must have flat tops. Check the windings of the transformer for darkened or burnt spots and test for shorts in both the primary and secondary windings

Hi aartman

Yes it does have backlamps.

They are soldered to the PCB so you will need a few tools like a soldering iron, philips screwdrivers, solder, and some replacement lamps. Replace the lamps with this type from Farnell electronics. They have a 15000 hr life expectancy and last alot longer in the unit. I have tried many types of lamps over the years, and found these are the best choice if you want them to last.

To get access to the lamps, you need to pull the main PCB out of the chassis to then get access to the bottom side of the printed circuit board where the 2 screws that retain the white lamp reflector assembly. Change both lamps with the type I mentioned,
6ab9edb.jpg Be careful not to flex the LCD display that is now exposed, it is quite fragile with the support of the lamp reflector cover no longer in place. ... reverse procedure to reassemble and away you go.

I am more than happy to talk about this solution with you further. Just ask away. Cheers

If the take up spool stops taking up the tape, it wraps itself around the capstan and jams up the mechanism.

If the speakers are all good and wiring too, then it's likely that a fault has developed in the main amp section. Till this is cleared the protection will not go away.

Did you make sure that the wiring is correct? did you make sure its +12V and ground and not the opposite way? If you checked that, please remove the remote wire for testing. If it then doesn't work, remove the wires from the speakers from it and try again. If it still doesn't do anything, bring it to a repairshop.

Even Google translate can't translate this. We are a North American website, we only speak English.

Could be an open internal fuse, power supply failure, or power switch failure
