ASUS (wl500g) Wireless Router - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
I don't remember the password
You must perform a factory reset using the reset button on the rear the device. You will then have to login using the factory default user id and password, create your new password, then reconfigure your router to your system as all settings were reset to factory defaults.
I cannot detect my router
A first logical step would be to take your laptop to another wireless location and see if it will work there (you could also take the your wireless unit there to test it). Likewise invite a friend with a wireless enabled machine to visit you and see if they can see your wireless unit. There are three different types of wireless devices in common use A, B, G you need to know which your machine uses and which the wireless receiver uses and assure there is a match. Some devices support multiple types A&G, B&G and A&B&G as long as one matches between the wireless adapter and wireless router/access point assuming the others were not configured off the test should be valid.
I don't know web user
Try admin as both the username and the password, if this does not work then you need to reset the router by pressing the little button on the back of it.

Is it close to a microwave, or a cordless phone?
Does it only lose signal when the phone rings, or you are using the microwave?
Try moving it further away from either of these, and change your phones channel.

Installing
1. if your internet service provider did not provide these to you, they would stay blank. (most cable broadband internet would have these blank, for instance)
2. because you havent entered any dns entries. more importantly, most of the time what is more important is that you router is set to obtain dns from your ISP (service provider) if that is set correctly, its ok that they are all 0's
3. whether or not your connection should be set to the automatic type can only be answered by your service provider, most cable and some DSL broadband would be set to automatic, some DSL will be set to PPPOE, which will require the username and password given to you from your ISP. If they did not give you one, most likely this would be set to automatic.
4. DHCP server functions is what allows your individual computers in your home to share the internet if you have more than one machine. even if you do have just one machine, it should still be set to automatic.
5. The router name is for your reference, so you should name it something that is meaningful to you.
How do I enhance my Asus PadFone X mini speaker loudness?
Look for a program called Sound Booster or one called DFX. DFX is my favorite because it not only boosts the volume, but lets you add other effects to enhance you sound as well. There is a free version. but to get all the effects you have to upgrade to the paid. If audio is important to you, check it out.
Graphics card no picture on monitor when connected via HDMI or any cable?
The issue you are experiencing with your graphics card and monitor can be caused by various factors. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to identify and resolve the problem:
1. Check power connections: Ensure that the graphics card has the necessary power connections properly connected. Some higher-end graphics cards require additional power connectors, such as 6-pin or 8-pin PCIe power connectors. Make sure they are firmly plugged in.
2. Verify BIOS settings: Access your motherboard's BIOS settings and check if the primary display output is set to the PCIe slot where your graphics card is installed. It should be set to prioritize the discrete graphics card instead of the integrated graphics (if applicable).
3. Update BIOS and drivers: Visit the Gigabyte website and make sure you have the latest BIOS version installed for your motherboard. Additionally, download and install the latest drivers for your graphics card from the XFX or AMD website. Outdated firmware or drivers can cause compatibility issues.
4. Reset BIOS: Try resetting the BIOS to its default settings. Locate the CMOS battery on your motherboard, remove it for a few minutes, then reinsert it. This action resets the BIOS settings to their defaults and may resolve any conflicting configurations.
5. Check for physical damage: Inspect the graphics card for any physical damage, loose connections, or faulty components. Ensure that it is securely inserted into the PCIe slot and that there are no visible signs of damage on the card or its connectors.
6. Test with a different monitor and cable: Connect your graphics card to a different monitor using a different cable (e.g., DisplayPort, DVI) to rule out potential issues with the HDMI cable or the monitor itself. This helps determine if the problem lies with the graphics card or the specific combination of monitor and cable.
7. Check for motherboard compatibility: Verify that your graphics card is compatible with your motherboard. Check the manufacturer's website for compatibility lists or consult the user manual for your motherboard. In some cases, a BIOS update might be necessary to ensure compatibility.
8. Seek professional assistance: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's advisable to contact the technical support of your motherboard or graphics card manufacturer. They may have specific troubleshooting steps or recommend further action, such as warranty service or component replacement.
Remember to handle your hardware with care and take necessary precautions, such as grounding yourself and disconnecting the power supply, before performing any physical checks or adjustments.
