Sigma AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 DL Macro Super Lens for Canon-EOS Questions & Answers
Err 01 Communication between Camera & Lens is Faulty
cleaning the contacts did nothing for me. what ended up fixing it was turning the camera to AV mode and setting to the highest f value. (f22) and then taking a picture. after that i was able to change it to what ever and resume as normal. hoping i dont see that error again.

Sigma 70-300 F4-5.6 APO DG MACRO for Nikon AFD Focusing problem
had this lens for my Pentax and used it for more than 10 years without trouble.
Have you got the lock on? should be a little button on the side.
Has it been dropped, maybe damage to the threads inside.
If its still under warranty then take it to the place you bought it from with all its paper work and get it checked out.

How to fix an error 99 on a Sigma 24-70 mm lens
The error 99 on your Canon is the last thing the camera can think of, if it really does not know what is wrong.
If you don't have the message when using a different lens, and the error keeps coming back with that lens, you are right it is in the lens. But again the camera can;t find out what.
The only thing you can do is make sure the contacts are clean and shiny and nothing os blocking free movement of all the parts on the lens. If you can't get it working correct, please contact a Certified Sigma service centre.

Trouble focusing with sigma 70-300 DL macro super lens
It will not focus on anything closer than 5 feet.
(From Sigma lens literature) Capable of macro photography, this
lens has a 1:2 maximum close-up magnification at the 300 mm focal
length. It's the ideal high performance lens for portraits, sports
photography, nature photography, and other types of photography that
frequently use the telephoto range. It also has a switch for changeover
to macro photography at focal lengths between 200mm and 300mm with a
maximum close-up magnification from 1:2.9 to 1:2. The minimum focusing
distance is 1.5m / 59 in. at all zoom settings.

DS 126151 error
What kind of error? Err 99?
You mention DS 126151, that's the model number. This camera is mostly know as Canon EOS Rebel XTi? Also known as the EOS 400D or EOS Kiss Digital X.
If you are getting a Err 99 while shooting, try any other lens that will fit on your Canon. In most cases the aperture will become defect in these lenses. Not worth repairing if you ask me. One thing you could do, is shoot only at its maximum aperture. So that'll be F4.0 at 70mm and F5.6 at 300mm. That might work, but that might not be suitable in every situation.

Are older Sigma Quantaray lenses
Yes. Bear in mind that many Canon digital SLRs have a sensor smaller than a frame of 35mm film. This results in the image being cropped, narrowing the field of view and making the lens behave as if it was of a longer focal length.

Does a "Sigma APO DG
It will fit, but you cannot guarantee that it will be fully compatible.
Third party lens manufacturers have to reverse engineer the patented technology of SLR manufacturers and then arrive at their own alternative and non-infringing solutions. As a result, their lenses are only ever guaranteed compatible with the SLR models available at the time they were manufactured, and if those cameras subsequently have firmware updates then all bets are off.
Sigma do offer an update service on many of their lenses, but it's not free and the lens has to go back to them for modifications.
The only lenses you can be sure of being compatible are the original Canon branded models.

Just bought this lens and the MACRO button
You need to zoom past 200mm and then switch it to the macro setting. You will see a mark on the focus ring that you must put the ring past on coming out of macro
