How to replace ink cartridge

I hope you already got your cartridge replaced. If not, here's a link to the Lexmark website on How to Install the Cartridges in the Lexmark X5150. This also applies on replacing cartridges. http://bit.ly/akqijS. Follow the instructions.
In some cases, the ink cartridge carrier won't position itself in the middle even when the printer is on and the cover is open. Just unplug the printer from the power source. With the cover open, hold the white tape in the middle inside the printer. The other end of it is connected to the carrier. Gently slide the carrier to the center. Load the cartridges. Close the cover. Plug the printer back to power source. Hope this helps.

Error code 0502 can you tell me what is the

Hi. Please see below procedure on how to resolved this issue.

Hardware Error 0502 on LCD Display ID:ENUS16536

Check the encoder strip on the printer. (This is a clear strip running the length of the printer, above or behind the cartridge carrier.) Do the following:
1. Switch off the printer using the power button.
2. Disconnect the power cable from the back of the Lexmark X5100 / X6100 Series.
3. Leave the power cable disconnected for 30 seconds.
4. Slide the cartridge carrier to the middle of the printer by taking the top part of the belt and moving it gently to the right.
5. Take out both cartridges.
6. Place an index finger on the encoder strip on either side of the cartridge carrier.
7. On the back of the cartridge carrier, there is a small slot that the encoder strip fits into. Slightly push the encoder strip down and then back up to get it into the slot.
8. Lightly press the strip first to the rear and then forward, if necessary.
9. Clean the encoder strip with a dry tissue. Also clean the contacts of the printer.
10. Reconnect the power cable and switch the printer on again.
11. Perform the hardware test without cartridges first and then with both cartridges.*
12. Make a standalone copy.
13. If the copy is satisfactory, repeat the test once to confirm that the error is gone.



How to Perform the Hardware Test on the Lexmark X5150 ID:ENUS3744

Using the operator panel on the printer:
1. Press the Option button 10 times until Cartridges appears on the LED display.
2. Press the + button 4 times until Self test appears on the LED Display.
3. Press Select. The printer should print a sheet of paper with one black bar and one grey bar.
4. If the printer fails to print, remove both cartridges and try the test again. (It will feed the paper through and print a blank page.)
5. If the test works with no cartridges in the printer, run it again with one cartridge at a time installed.

I suggest you use the latest driver from the Lexmark website. Just click on this link: http://bit.ly/9oh2oq. Click on the Macintosh drop-down found below the page and choose the version of the operating system of your computer. Download the software. If problem continues, you may need to uninstall the existing driver before installing the new one. If problem persists, don't hesitate to contact Lexmark technical support to further investigate the problem.

How to open for clearing paper jam

Hi,
You will need to open you printer and look for pieces of paper in odd places or see if the paper sensor lever is in the right position. You can also try unplugging the printer and waiting about 1 minute then plugging it back in. See if that gets rid of the message. Some models will allow you to forward a page of paper though the printer even though there is a paper jam. If you can do that then that might clear the jam. Give it a shot!

How does one remove a paper jam. Have lexmark 5485

Open the panel and have access to the roller. if you detach the side motor it will be easier to manually turn the rollers and get the jammed paper out. You can also get the paperr out by carefully turning the gear drive of the motor and get the paper out. Clean the rollers well before the printer is closed.
Test and proceed., Use the correct grade printing paper.

Printer not functioning has hardware error #0502

Hi,

This error usually turns up when there is dirt, dust or even ink on the rods that the cartridges move up and down on. this causes drag and leads to this error.
Remove power from the printer and get a paper towel or a kleenex. Open the printer up to reveal the cartridge bay.
Clean the rods with the kleenex or towels as far as you can reach. Then genlty pull the cartridges to the middle from the right hand side and clean the rods at that end.

Shut the bay and return power to the printer, the error message should now have gone.
