Use the Vista driver in Windows 7.Also, make sure that the Print Spooler service in your computer is running. Try following the steps below:

1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service)
2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.
3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the print spooler service)

Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Sometimes the ink cartridge carrier won't automatically move to its loading position even when the printer is on and the cover is open. Follow the steps below:

1. Unplug the printer from the power source.

2. With the cover open, hold the solid white strip that connects from the carrier assembly to the ink cartridge carrier and gently slide the cartridge carrier to the center of the printer.

3. Remove the used cartridges.

4. Load the new cartridges. Close the cover.

5. Plug the printer back to the power source.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

How do I find IP address of a network printer?

Often times we see a networked printer suddenly stop working and you need to find a static (private) ip address of the printer to diagnose further. How do we find IP address of a networked printer? There are a few different ways to go about finding it.
1. A network printer with built-in ethernet port usually provides a menu button that will allow you to display IP address assigned to it. You may also try printing self test or configuration page from your printer.
2. If you can't find an IP address of a network printer from the menu display or your printer is connected to a printer server with no display, you may find its address from any networked computer configured to use the printer. To find the printer IP address from a Windows machine, perform the following.

• Start -> Printers and Faxes, or Start -> Control Panel -> Printers and Faxes
• Right-click the printer name, and left-click Properties
• Click the Ports tab, and widen the first column which displays IP address of the printers

3. If your networked printer uses DHCP, you may connect to your router and find the IP address of the printer from DHCP status page. The router displays all host machines that are assigned dynamic IP addresses.
4. You may also try pinging your network from a computer connected to the network, and lookup an arp table. On your computer, click [Start] -> [Run...] and type "cmd" and [Enter]. Type "ipconfig" to find your network address. The network address is found by performing a logical AND operation on your IP address and the subnet mask. For example, if you IP is 192.168.1.101 and subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, then the network address is 192.168.1.0. Ping your network using a broadcast address, i.e. "ping 192.168.1.255". After that, perform "arp -a" to determine all the computing devices connected to the network. One of the IP found is your networked printer.
5. You may also use "netstat -r" command to find an IP address of all network routes. However, if your printer has problem communicating with other network devices, you may not be able to find IP address of the printer using "netstat" command.

I'm sorry to inform you that the Lexmark P704 does not have a driver for Linux operating system. It works on Windows and Macintosh operating system though.

You are running low on ink that's why can print those dark bands for cleaning and not print.
1: check printing defaults = does it work in high def better? Then you need ink. (Don't overill or'll ruin the cartridge!!!!!!)

The refills are great to do yourself but only works on NON-refurbished cartridges.

Refurbished cartridges clog and don't have that much ink anyway.

There no easy way the printers are been made this way so you take them to the shop, but if you are handy with your hands and know what you are doing then you will need to take all apart and take out the ink pads inside the printer and clean them up make sure they nice dry when put back in, then you are going to need a program that you can find on the internet it will be called waste reset tools, or your printer will not work even after you done the clean out, inles the Brother printer can be able to reset in the Menu.
