Download and install the latest driver from Intel. Here is their driver webpage:

The only trick is that you may have to download it on a different computer since your network adapter isn't working. Write the driver to a CD or copy it to a USB memory stick so you can transfer it to your computer.

I have the same network card.
Never had this problem with Vista (32 bit) but recently switched to Win7 (64 bit) and had the same problem as you.
I solved by going under Control Panel->hardware->network card properties->power save and unchecking "Allow pc to switch off the device to save power"

Check the device manager by going from start->run->devmgmt.msc and check ethernet is installed properly and all drivers are installed otherwise try reattach the card.

If you're using your system as the Host for the other systems, turn off your sleep mode. The Host should be active at ALL times.

There are no letters. That is the ip address assigned to your router and almost all other routers. You cant turn it into a web address

What Orange light are you refering to? You have an orange and green LED on the block of the Ethernet connecter, if the cable is plugged into the plug and the other end is terminated into another deive such as a modem,bridge,router or switch the orange light(led) should come on as that indicates a valdi link hence being called the link light, the green light(led) indicates data being received or transmitted. If orange flash with sparks(bad) from the plug it means there is power on the cable..very bad as this could be due to the ethernet card that is faulty or the device on the other end of the cable is faulty.
