Yaesu Ft-270r 5 Watt Waterproof Vhf Two Way Ham & Amateur 2 Meter Radio Questions & Answers
Ft270r handheld radio mod. issue
Hi Adrian,Firstly, I take it that you are a licensed Amateur operator, if not, you're breaking the law.If, on the other hand you are licensed, then I would contact a friendly Ham operator, who would be only to pleased to assist, after all, Amateur radio operators spend most of their time doing just this kind of thing, as you well know, if you are indeed a licensed Ham operator.Cheers,Peter
Where can I get a replacement cooling fan for a Pyramid PS36K power supply
Hi Dave, I'm not at all familiar with the Pyramid Brand/Make, but the best I could suggest is to ask other amateurs/Cber's, and other radio enthusiasts in your local area, if the have any spare parts or non-working power supply units that you can have for a small fee or favour if needs be, and I'm sure that you can find, even if you need to trim the fan blades to suit, that this will be the easiest and cheapest way of doing the job.I hope I have helped you with your query.Best wishes,Peter
Yaesu 101ex has no reccive or transmit
The problem is likely the TX/RX relay. If it is old (and I am sure it is) the contacts likely need to be cleaned, or the relay replaced. It is a common enough relay if you want to replace it. Also, pull each PCB card and clean the contacts with a pencil eraser. Pink erasers are OK but the white ones are better as they aren't as abrasive.
Hope this helps, VE3CMQ
Yaesu ft-100d. Does not rx or tx. Frequency readout blinks on rx. On tx frequency blanks out and icon upper left indicates tx-off. full reset and no change. exchanged local unit and no change.
I am not sure, but this usually indicates that the PLL has lost lock. These days, it could be as simple as a poorly soldered connection. I don't recommend that you try repairing this yourself as there are essentially no user serviceable parts in radios these days.
Radio repairs these days have come down to board swapping because the parts are so tiny that humans have a hard time replacing (and in some cases, seeing) the parts. Yaesu US has a very good reputation for quality repairs so I'd suggest you send it there. They will likely just swap a board out, but that will be less expensive than having someone spending 10 hours trying to find the problem and repairing it. I know, as I work in a radio shop, and if it isn't something real simple, all we can do is do a board swap.
My yaesu ftm 3200 will not power up
Check the fuses and the power supply. Make sure that the power supply has enough capacity to run the radio, at least 20A! Make sure that the power supply is putting out 13.6V.
If you were unfortunate enough to hook the power leads up backwards, then a trace may be blown off the circuit board internal to the radio. Also, it is likely that the reverse polarity diode inside has shorted out. This may cause the fuse to blow when you apply power. If it has blown, it likely took the the trace out inside the radio.
If the power supply and fuses are OK, unless you are competent technically, the only recourse is to take the radio into a shop and get them to fix it. If you were upgrading the firmware inside the radio when it happened, then the radio is likely non-repairable.
I don't recommend ever upgrading a radio's firmware! If it isn't broken, then don't fix it!!
