Check the sound setting of windows, there is nothing wrong with your headset.
What windows do you have is i XP, Vista or Windows7?
anyways it is almost all the same just looks different on the windows version.
On the lower right side look for the speaker icon in the lower right side where the time is, then right click on it then select playback devices.
Once you have playback devices you should see a headset icon there if the headset is already connected.
right click on the icon then select properties or configure headset check the settings, also check the settings of the headset for the mic to see if there is an option to disable or set anything regarding echo or quality on the mic settings
