Emerson Smartset Clock Radio Questions & Answers
Wrong time on Emerson Smart Set clock
This is a problem with the clocks tuning crystal. Digital clocks have a crystal that is tuned to run at a certain frequency to keep the clock working correctly. These clocks have a problem with that crystal keeping the frequency locked at the correct working frequency. This problem will sometimes cause the clocks to run fast due to a running frequency higher than the regulated frequency and sometime slow due to a running frequency running lower than the regulated frequency. The only way to fix this problem is to either adjust the crystals frequency to the correct frequency and lock it. Or change the crystal. Both these types of service require tools and test equipment to fix the problem. This is usually best handled by a service center. The Emerson customer support telephone number is 1-800-898-9020. Give them the make and model number of your clock radio and ask them for assistance. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

Time Zone Setting
Sorry it took so long to give you a answer to your problem. I hope this information help you with the problem. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day! Setting The Time, The First Time
IMPORTANT: The first time you connect your new SmartSet® clock radio to
the AC outlet the internal computer will automatically set the time correctly for
the Eastern Time Zone, which is the initial default setting. The display will
scan for a few seconds and then show the correct Day and Time in the Eastern
zone. If you live in the Eastern Time zone, there?s nothing else to do. Your
clock is set correctly and running.
If you do not live in the Eastern Time zone you must change the default zone
display to your own zone. You only do this one time and the SmartSet® will remember
the new default zone setting and will always return to that setting after a power
interruption.
There are 7 time zones programmed into your SmartSet® clock radio as follows:
ZONE 1 ? Atlantic Time
ZONE 2 ? Eastern Time (Default Setting)
ZONE 3 ? Central Time
ZONE 4 ? Mountain Time
ZONE 5 ? Pacific Time
ZONE 6 ? Yukon Time
ZONE 7 ? Hawaiian Time
To change the default time zone display, depress the Time Zone button.
The number ?02? will appear on the display
indicating that the default zone is ZONE 2,
Eastern Time
Daylight Savings Times Changed
Directions for Resetting the Daylight Savings Time (DST)
Start & End Dates on the Emerson Research Smartset Dual Alarm Clock
Radio (cks5055s):
- This should work for all Smartsets, but I cannot make the guarantee (and no, I don't have any other directions, sorry)!
- Adjusting the DST Start Date on an Emerson Research Smartset:
- Depress
& hold the MONTH/DATE and the ALARM1 buttons (at the same time).
After 3 seconds the display will show the DST 'start' month, week, and
date. It should be alternately showing "4 F" (April and first week
week) and "4. 1".
- While still holding the MONT/DATE and the ALARM1 buttons, press the
DOWN (or "-") button 3 times, until the display is showing "3" (March)
and the week as "F2". It should alternately flash "3 F2" and "3. 11".
- After this is set, the clock should "automatically" reset itself
- Adjusting the DST End Date on an Emerson Research Smartset:
- Depress & hold the MONTH/DATE and the ALARM2 buttons (at the
same time). After 3 seconds the display will show the DST 'end'
month, week, and date. It should be alternately showing "10 L" (October
and last week week) and "10. 28".
- While still holding the MONT/DATE and the ALARM1 buttons, press the
UP (or "+") button 1 time, until the display is showing "11" (November)
and the week as "F". It should alternately flash "11 F" and "11. 4".
- After this is set, the clock should "automatically" reset itself
One thing to note, if you ever have to change the lithium backup
battery for the Smartset clocks, it will revert back to it's factory
defaults and you'll have to go through his all over again.
