If you have restarted your computer and tried several times with the same results, the only solution is to reinstall Quickbooks Pro.

Go to Control Panel - Add / Remove Programs (or Programs and Features) and remove the QuickBooks software.

With the QuickBooks CD (or if you downloaded the program, run install from the place you downloaded), run and install the program.

How I bypass the login for Quickbooks 2002, wasn't there before.

Contact Intuit, they will supply you with a reset application that can be used to reset the password. They've done it a few times for me in the past. You'll need to answer their questions (of which they have many) and it might cost you something, but I know for the situations I've had to use it in the past, it was certainly worth a few bucks to get into the books!

Reinstalling 2002 pro

Sorry to tell you that you will need to upgrade. Quickbooks is only compatable with Vista in 2008 and up. Quckbooks is not doing anything to resolve older issues.

You need to find your current file. Quickbooks has defaulted to it's standard set up. To find all of your quickbooks file do a search for .QBW files. On XP you can find the search on the windows tab. Search for all files that have.qbw in the name. Once you find all of them, note their locations and date of last access. (the lastest date will be the old file since Quickbooks opened that one up. What you are looking for is the file accessed right before you put in the new power supply.
One you find that file, wirite down the location and then open Quickbooks. Click on open file and then browse to the location that you wrote down. Click on the quickbooks file to open it. This should be your most up to date file and you should be good to go.

Open Quickbooks.
Go to Edit>Preferences, in the new window, in the left hand column scroll down to Sales and Customers.
Select Company Preferences, make sure at the bottom of the window the box "Automaticaly Apply Payments" is not checked (no tick or cross in the box)
