Viewfinder completely dead. Tech able user

The price for the viewfinder is around 150 bucks along. Time you pay for labor, it will be close to the total cost. There have been a few complaints about it but not enough to matter. Was it dropped or did it just quit?

Hi, memory card error while trying to format. The

Hello Dear

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.

The wide-telephoto lever and the shutter are

Could be some moisture causing the sticking. You could bury the camera in rice for a couple of days to absorb the moisture. As far as focusing on a correct subject in a close-up, you should set your auto focus on spot focussing. Then, only a tiny portion of the center of your screen is the focus point. Center the important part and press the shutter half-way to lock the focus and then you can move the camera to a better position and press the rest of the way.

LCD showing "remove len cap and press reset button" always

Simple! Read warnings carefully! It said "remove lens cap and press SET button"! So remove the lens cap and then press the SET button (or arrow downward in the four directions button)! You don´t need to RESET anything...

Panasonic DMC-FZ1 Flash still not working

If you have a lightning symbol followed by “A” in the upper left corner of display, try to change it to forced flash (only lightning symbol) or reduce iso settings because probably the camera “thinks” there’s sufficient light for the photo.

    Dropped Camera.

The lens motor mechanism is very fragile and will stoppworkin even if you look at it too hard let alone drop it.
The cost of repair will be high - best bet is to write it off[are you insured against accidental damage?]Check out the manufacturer off course.

    Flash is not working

The flash icon appears in the upper left corner of display or it appears as circled flash icon? If flash is open and appears a circled icon, then there’s a malfunction contact that don’t communicate to the camera that the flash is open. Your camera needs service! Be sure the upper part of the flash is unfolded, pointing directly in front of the camera (not downward), because the sensor is just in this second folder. If the icon is not circled, press the right arrow until only the lightning symbol appears (forced flash). Try a shot! If the flash doesn’t pops, then your camera needs servicing (burned or broken lamp or other malfunctions).

If you zoom to less than 12x

Sorry you're having such a problem with the fz1 w/b-macro. Here is a shot of the stock fz1 w/b-macro at full 12x zoom - resized only. Try practicing on still objects such as coins or jewlery. If you are beyond 10-12 inches you are probably too far away.

    "Shutter jiggle" icon

it's just telling that under the current conditions (zoom, light, etc.) that it would be best to use a tripod or a very steady hand when taking the picture. This is NOT a sensor in the camera that is telling you that you're shaking the camera too much -- that's a common misconception. You are on the right track when you say that you need more light to take your pictures -- at least more light to take hand-held pictures. If you're getting good results anyway, it just means you have a steady hand!
