Memory card error
Card errors can occur from time to time. Special, when you remove the card while the camera is still switched on. If you have (or think to have) important pictures on the card, please first try to save them. There are special recovery programmes. Several memory card manufacturers do have them. Some other firms also promote them online. To be sure you still have pictures on the card, you could save, find a recover program and most of the time you can use it to recover a few pictures for free. If the program can't find any recoverable picture, you also don't need to buy the program. If there are no pictures on the card, toy can format the card in the camera. If that is also not possible, check if the card is locked. SD cards do have a lock switch. Also you should check if all the contacts of the memory card and in the cameras memory slot are clean and there is no dust or debris in the memory slot.
Lens Cover Won't Open
NO Super glue this can be fixed pretty easily to get fixed. most local shops will not charge you to much to fix it maybe 15 to 20 at the most i figure. or you can remove the lens cover by putting a very small flat head screw driver on the side of the lens and with the camera off pull away from the camera and it should just pop off. Superglue if you get it on the lens will rune the whole thing. Just tiring to help out . I repair lens shutters all the time they are just mechanical parts nothing really special about them.
LCD Screen went black!!!
hi..
I had the same problem. The flex cable for backlight was broken. I take
out the backlight LED module. There have one resister along with 4 LED.
I soldered two wires (AWG 30) onto two sides of resistor. Just follow
the trace of flex cable and then solder the wires to the pins of
connector directly. Although there have 4 wire on the backlight cable,
it only need two to work.
In order to avoid any finger print and dust fall on to the LCD, it
would better wear a hat and plastic glove during this operation.
thank u

Screen is black, backlighting gone,
The display being black can be due to failure of the LCD or the CCD which is the optical sensor of the camera. So to confirm check the older picture to be seen on the display. Confirm this by checking the card on your PC. If the display is not seen, then the LCD can be faulty, fault on the linking cable or the control board.
However if the older images are seen well then the LCD is working correctly and the fault can be failure of the CCD- charge coupled device in the camera. If you have accidently exposed the camera directly to high intensity light / sunlight, then it is possible that it is damaged. Remove the battery and keep the phone aside to reset and try as a last resort. Get estimate before you decide. It will be good to have it checked at the authorised service as you do not have to run around for spares.

Welcome to FixYa.
One possible reason why do you get a "memory card" error is because the memory card is not yet formatted for camera use. Try to format the memory card using the camera itself. Do not use another camera or PC's when formatting the memory card,it may cause another error because it will not recognized by the camera.
Try also to clean the memory slot by using a soft and dry cloth. Then turn on the camera again.
If the message still persist, you neen to contact Panasonic service center.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if this solution was helpful.

Good morning.
When I try to
Try NOT connecting the camera to the computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).
