IBM thinkpad x31 w/ultrabay 2000 blu-ray drive question
If the bay is a DVD drive Blue Ray will work as long as you have a newer DVD decoding software. There are some decoders or codecs at IBM's support site, such as WinVid. If the codecs at IBM do not work with Blue Ray, then try download.com and search for DVD playing software.
Windows 7 drivers for video and sound
1- Opened the Device Manager (Go to the Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Device Manager)2-click on the arrow next to sound,video and select your driver3- Right Click and select "Update Driver Software..4- Then click on search automatically. (It will search for your drivers online and update them) If that doesnt work go to your computer manufactures website and locate the drivers there and download them

The same model ThinkPad can have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless you know exactly which one is installed in your ThinkPad, you need to download all the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download the drivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a record of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are located on your hard drive. Have power no display
Maybe your charger or batts are fry.Did you check those? Waht about plug the charger only?

If you cannot boot the ThinkPad, you will have to reset the IBM ThinkPad password via hardware.
If only the power-on password is set, do the following to remove the power-on password.
- Power off the computer
- Remove the DIMM cover on the bottom side of the computer.
- Short-circuit the two password pads or put a jumper on the contacts to short the circuit.
- Under the short-circuit condition, power on the computer and wait until the POST ends. After the POST ends, the password prompt does not appear. The power-on password is removed.
- Reinstall the DIMM cover.
If both the power-on password and the supervisor password are set, do the following to remove the passwords:
- Power on the computer by pressing and holding F1.
- Enter the supervisor password. The Easy-Setup menu appears.
- Click on the Password icon.
- Click on the Power on icon.
- Enter the supervisor password and press the Space bar.
- Press Enter twice.
- Click on Exit; then click on Restart.

Did you install Windows 7 or is it XP, which is a discontinued operating system?
Blue screens are less prevalent and even nonexistent on Windows 7 vs. Windows XP.
