IBM ThinkPad T22 2647 Notebook Questions & Answers
How can I boot from USB in a Thinkpad T22?
I assume with "boot menu" you mean the BIOS boot menu (the one you get
to if you press F12 during start up, before the Windows screen appears.)
- Go to "Enter Setup"
- Go to "Config", click "Enter"
- Go down to "USB", click "Enter"
- Make sure that "USB Bios Support" is enabled.
- (Hit "Enter" again and choose between "enabled" and "disabled")
- Hit "Esc" twice to go back to the main page.
- Go down to "Startup", click "Enter"
- Choose "Boot"
- Check if "USB CD" is in the list of boot options or excluded form booting.
- Hit F10, confirm any changes you made (click "Enter" for 'yes') and reboot.
- Tap or hold down F12 again and you should see the boot option menu again.
Note: I am not 100% sure if you can boot from a DVD externally.
I booted from the internal DVD drive fine with a Linux LiveCD. It is
possible that the T22 BIOS does not support external booting. Check you
version - the latest release from IBM is version 16ET32WW (1.12),
release date 06/03/2004. You find that info
here.
I would really appreciate if you could come back here and leave a comment, so I (and maybe others?) can learn form this ;-)
Good luck!
How do you use the blue Fn keys?
The use of the function keys are primarily dependent upon the software program that you are running. The F1 key usually will open a help screen. Depending on the hardware manufacturer, function keys can be used at startup to enable boot options or to get into the BIOS setup function.

IBM ThinkPad T22 won't turn on
You have what is known as the Blink Of Death (BOD). There are several things that seem to work, but none of them ALWAYS work.
What works most of the time for most users seems to be the following. Remove the main battery. Remove the AC adapter / charger. Press and hold the power button for at least ten seconds. While holding the power button down, plug the AC adapter / charger into the unit. If you are using a Ni-CAd or LI-ON battery, you should NOT leave the battery in the computer all of the time the AC adapter / charger is connected to the unit. NI-CAD's develop a memory of sorts with repeated short re-charge cycles. LI-ON batteries a limited number od re-charge cycles and they have microprocessors inside the battery housing that are there to attempt to evenly control the charge to the individual cells. Google Blink Of Death for more information.
Good Luck,
Merlin
Show me how can regular the password in t 22
Which Password? Bios Password? Hard Drive Password? Windows Welcome Screen Login Password?Which Operating System? Windows XP? Windows Vista? Windows 7?OK,
if you are running Windows 7, Microsoft tightened security on it so
you've got to have a password reset disk which 99% of the people who own
laptops with windows 7 fail to do. It should be one of the first things
you do when you buy the laptop. Otherwise, you're faced
with reinstalling the Operating System or possibly doing a System
Recovery. If you're on Windows XP or Vista try this:Turn
off the computer, then hit the power button to turn it back on
and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see the
Safe Mode option. Select SAFE MODE and let the computer boot up. When
it gets to the User Login screen it will show the Administrator userid
and the userid for which you forgot the password. Sign in as the
Administrator (hopefully you didn't put a password on it and forgot it
too). Once the desktop appears it will look different, the screen will
be darker and the icons bigger, but this is normal for safe mode. Click Start/Control Panel/User AccountsWhen
the User Accounts screen opens, click on the userid for which you
forgot the password. Select the option to REMOVE PASSWORD. Reboot your machine.
I forgot my bios password
You will need to remove the CMOS battery to reset the mainboard. The Cmos battery stores your system configuration and your password. Remove the battery for about to 2 minutes to set your system to its default configuration and it will also disable the bios password.
T22 disk read error
Sounds like the Operating System is corrupt. I would re-format the hard drive and re-install the OS that should solve the problem. If not then the Hard drive needs to be replaced.
It wont get started
Is this something that just started occuring, out of the blue, so to speak, and what is the seven digit code?
Installed 512mb pc133 ram memory and it wont boot
The laptop needs pc100 not 133 ram. it may be able to work on 133 but if you already have a pc100 stick in there it wont boot up. but all the recommended ram is only pc 100 and the Maximum it supports total is 512 mb
