If you've lost the bios password, you'll probably have to 'flash' the bios. If you feel comfortable enough, you can dismantle the laptop and remove the motherboard battery for several minutes, then replace it and reassemble the system, see if the password has been cleared. (Note: The motherboard battery is NOT the laptop battery; you have to remove both!)

If you don't have any important data in your computer. You can revert the system to factory settings by using the thinkvantage button and go with the prompt. If the thinkvantage is damage, You have to call IBM and purchased the Recovery disc and reinstall the operating system.

you have bad copy of windows

am also facing the same problem..with my ibm a21m...still trying to solve it..i try to disconnect the battery and left it for several days..see what happen by this end of the month

I would check ebay, as that model is too old for IBM (which doesn't make laptops anymore) to have that part in stock.
