Gateway computer does not turn on
Without seeing the machine, I'm thinking you have a motherboard problem. But try these troubleshooting steps before throwing in the towell:
Open the case and disconnect the CD cable. Now try it. If it still doesn't work, disconnect the hard drive and try it.
Let me know what happens. I've seen CDs mess up a system like this. I many times will swap out the power supply, but I'm thinking with the lights flashing, its a more serious problem.
My gateway computer, 3 years old, doesnt turn on, no blue light, nothing happens?
test your outlet first, if you don't have, or can't use, a multimeter, plug a light into the same outlet and ensure it turns on.Did you change any hardware recently? If so, remove the hardware and see if the computer powers up in the original configuration. Some newer or aftermarket hardware requires more power. If you do not know how to use a multimeter you can buy a test light for a couple of dollars from any automotive store, hook the clamp to the chassis of your computer (the metal part) then put the probe itself into one of the drive power connectors on the yellow wire, the light should turn on, now put it in the connector with the red wire, the light should turn on but be dimmer than the yellow wire. If the light fails to turn on for either you will need a new power supply. Post back any results and we can help you further.
I need to know what are my options if i want to
If your computer is more than 4 years old and you want a faster computer with a high end graphics card for games, RAM and larger hard disk and Windows 7, then I would seriously consider buying a new computer. You don't need to purchase a new monitor (keep your existing one), this will reduce the costs.
An upgraded old computer would not be as good as a new one, when you consider the costs and time involved with replace hardware and installing Windows on a larger hard drive, device drivers and programs etc.

What can I do to fix this problem, my gr 500 is telling me to reboot and select proper device or insert boot media in selected boot device
You need to go into your Bios or System Setup and change the boot order or boot sequence. It sounds like you might be trying to boot from a Network or Lan. It could be that you are trying to boot from the CD drive but instead of having a operating system disc in the drive you might have a movie or music cd in the drive. Reboot the computer and notice what key the screen says to hit to get into the Bios or System Setup and hit that key. Change your boot order or boot sequence. The best sequence is to have the CD Drive 1st and the Hard Drive 2nd. Changing this in the bios or system setup will make the change permanent. Just make sure when you boot the computer that nothing is in the CD drive unless you have a repair disc or operating system disc in it.You could make a temporary change but then you will have to change it every time you boot. If you notice the screen when you boot it also gives you the key to hit to change the boot order or boot sequence. This will allow you to change it just for this time that you are booting.
