The error "the document failed to print" or "the test page failed to print" indicates that there's communication issue between the computer and the printer. Have you tried connecting the printer on another usb port? Is there any error on the control panel of the printer?

The cash drawer is loking for a signal from the printer to fire the drawer. It is usually on one of the pins of the cable comming from the printer. You will probably have to contact the cash drawer manufacture for that information.
