Hi, and thanks for your help. sad little noises on start up
Hello b3toed - sorry you're having problems; let's see what can be done.
First, there is a transportation lock on the scanner. (If you have a manual, it will tell you more about this.) Make sure it is unlocked.
Second, test the connection between the scanner and your computer -- make sure it's snug (well connected).
Third, if you were scanning a transparency just before this happened, make sure you've removed the reflective document mat.
After checking these things, turn it off - pause - then turn it back on. Best wishes for good results! -- ambssdor --

Scanners are not meant to be user serviceable. This means that to clean the inside of the scanner, its better that it be brought to the manufacturer who can do this in a safe and correct manner. Believe me, it is worth doing this than ending up having a non-working scanner.

From Epson FAQ:
Q:
Does Epson have Microsoft Vista 64-bit drivers available for my scanner?
A:
Currently, we do not have Microsoft Vista 64-bit drivers available for your scanner. However, you may be able to use the VueScansoftware from Hamrick; it supports Microsoft Vista 64-bit. Please visit the Hamrick web site for more information.

Epson 2450 scanner
Without knowing all of the details and features of the Epson 2450 scanner, my first suggestion would be to calibrate the scanner. There is usually a calibration option within the scanner driver. If there is some sort of "Advance" mode in the driver, this option would most likely be there. If there is no change after this, then I would suggest to turn the scanner around (180 degrees) so that the front of the scanner is now where the back is. This is simply to see if there is interference coming from the area on the side of the scanner on which the blue tinge was noticed. So if you turn the scanner around and the blue tinge moves to the other side of the scan, then you know there is some type of interference, in which case you could move the scanner away from that specific location, temporarily, until you could locate the source of the interference. Assuming this is USB, you may consider trying a different USB cable. Try to limit the cable length to 6ft or less. Connect the USB cable directly to the computer (for testing purposes) as opposed to connecting through a USB Hub or some other device. If all has failed to resolve the issue, trying the scanner on another computer would be ideal. If the problem still exists, then service will most likely be required.
Hope this helps.
