From the manual its probably one of this item.-printer temp is too high-cover is not properly closed-print head is not in the correct position-paper cutter is not in the correct position-paper jamTry turning off the printer, remove the power cable, turn it on again for 5 seconds to reset it. Connect back power cable, press the feed button and turn it back on. The printer should do a self test, turn it off and on again after the self test. It should make the red light go away.

The U220 has a shaft adjustment on each side to adjust the distance from the printhead to the paper through the ribbon. If it is too close, and it can move due to normal function, it will eat ribbons nad smear the text. I recommend taking each one off, bending the end of each one inward to make better contact, setting them straight down, and testing without the covers on. WHen you get a good print, replace covers and test again.

the ip is 224.0.0.1 when i tried changed my notebook IP, it said invalid range.

Hi!Are you using a third party USB adapter or a USB interface? On the self test page that you printed does it say USB connection or something that will say about USB? or does it say parallel or serial connection? try to check the dip switches setting if its configured properly. visit epsonexperts.com site for more info.

Did you change the dip switches? I believe that for the serial printer to work with ethernet, you need to have switches 2 and 4 on bank 2 set to on.

do a self-test first. Perform by holding down the feed button then powering on the printer. if it prints then it is not a printer issue, but a driver or cable issue.

may you put the paper in wrong order just turn the paper up side down and then check if ok nothing to do if not u have problem with thermal head or head alingment
