Epson Stylus 880 InkJet Color Printer Questions & Answers
I have been using an
The print head nozzles may be clogged. From the Utility section found in the EPSON printer driver, clean the print heads by performing a head cleaning followed by printing a nozzle check pattern. A head cleaning and nozzle check must be performed as a cycle. After printing a nozzle check, examine the printed dot pattern. Each staggered horizontal and straight vertical line should be complete, with no gaps in the dot pattern. If there are gaps in the dot pattern, continue with another cycle. Perform up to 3 cycles if necessary. If the nozzle check is not printing completely, and if the head cleanings do not help the nozzle check pattern to print completely, try replacing the ink cartridge. Any ink cartridge installed into the printer must have a blue label on top of it. If the blue label has been removed from the ink cartridge, do not install the cartridge. Using an ink cartridge, which does not have the blue label on it, may damage the printer. Caution: If you have already installed a cartridge which is missing the blue label, or if a previously installed ink cartridge was missing its blue label at the time it was installed, and now head cleanings do not help the nozzle check pattern to print completely, your printer may require service and you should contact the EPSON Connection for further assistance.

Epson Color Stylus 880 not printing, blank pages only
With some printers they need to be the recommended brand of ink cartridge. Are you using Epson's own cartridges? If not might be worth changing to them. It sounds as though the issue is with the cartidges and not the printer itself. Hope this helps.
Epson stylus color 740 printer test page failure
Hi Geoffrey. It sounds from what you say (not really enough information to be 100% specific for you) that your printhead needs a clean - I am assuming you mean the colours are not printing? Run the head clean facility (FILE _ PRINT _ PREFERENCES _ MAINTENANCE) and ensure you run a Nozzle Check after any clean - meaning never just run clean after clean - always a nozzle check between is essential. If no major improvement, do the following. Move the printhead to the Change Cartridge position (for your model could also be under the Maintenance tabbed page as Charge Cartridge). Then remove the power supply - do not just switch o0ff as that re-parks the printhead. Now you can freely move the printhead side to side. Get some linen material about 8" long and say 3" wide and fold over twice. Lay that down in the well where the printhead moves side to side when working. Now apply a 5% Ammonia solution (in USA you can get product WINDEX - but Ammonia should be cheaper - 5% is simply, as a quick guide, one spoonful Ammonia in 99 of water!). Then move the printhead across and allow to sit there for at least an hour. Remove the material, plug back on the printer and it will set itself up and perform a clean. Then do a nozzle check. Should have improved if not totally resolved your problems. Repeat if necessary. Also, make sure your cartridges have got ink in them! If old - could have dried up over a period of inactivity. Good luck.
Prints blank pages
make sure u have the printing options from printer settings set to black only and not colour..
Can't get my Epson 880
Epson's support ends at Windows 32 bit for your device . Your printer will not run under a 64 bit system .
There is no direct solution to this issue .
If you have a Windows XP install disc , you can install a virtual version of XP on your machine with http://download.cnet.com/VMware-Player/3000-2094_4-10470784.html or via Microsoft's if you are using Ultimate or Professional .
Otherwise , you will have to purchase a new Windows 7 compatible device .
Best regards ,
fanaudi .
I changed black ink cartridge
Try going into the menu and cleaning your print heads. If that doesn't work, take out the cartridge and using a cotton swab and alcohol, clean the print heads.
When i turn on the printer all the lights are
The Epson Stylus Color 880 has 4 LEDs. If all 4 are flashing or
blinking then the printer has a maintenance request error. It means that
the waste ink counter has reach its limit. The remedy is to replace the
waste ink pads and reset the waste ink counter. You can use the SSC service utility to reset the protection counter. You can download the utility from here
http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html
You can also use the control paler to reset the counter. Timing is the
key to success when you reset the counter using the control panel so
keep that in mind. To reset the protection counter using the control panel (front panel):
Step 1.Turn the power on while holdint the following buttons doen.
Paper feed, cleaning button. (thr paper out light will flash for 3
seconds)
Step 2.While the paper out light is still flashing press
the cleaning button for 10 seconds. The following leds will flash in
sequence Ink out lights black and color, Paper out light. Once the
printer starts to initilize the counter should be reset. This
will reset the protection counter.
Can you tell me how to clean the printer heads I
Within the installed drivers, there are tools installed which you can access when you start e.g. a printjob to the Epson Stylus Color 880. Select the Tools tab and then select the cleaning tools.
Cant get rid of horizontal lines on my prinying
Hi
If
a single inkjet in your printer is not functioning then output will appear as a
horizontal line across the page. If one of the jets is on all of the time then
output will have black or colored lines across the page. Use the following
steps to isolate the problem:
-
Replace the ink cartridge
-
Check the flexible cabling for continuity and for short circuits between
adjacent conductors
-
Exchange the control board for a good one
-
Finally check the power supply
Good
Luck
