Once you open the printer to change the cartrige you should be able to manually slide the carriage over, but be careful doing this.

Open the Lid for scanner, check for a switch on the side for Scanner Lock. Try to switch it to unlock position and retry booting up Printer. That should take care of scanner error message.

try another catrige, check if anything stuck in nozzles, use proper catrige, the number of your originle catrige and current should be same,but for sure the problem with either with your catrige or the place where you fix you catrige.

1. Look inside, and see if a tan colored belt is secure and not loose. if you are able to move the belt and the printhead does not move, it means the clip on the printhead is damaged. Really not worth repairing.

2. since its giving you a printer error and not a scanner error, then most likely the printhead is in the cleaning assembly and the locking mechanism will not release. it could be a simple as manually lowering it. Look in the printer, just to the left of the printhead, there should be a lever in the up position, with a pencil or maybe a small screwdriver, see if you can move it backward (toward the front of the printer) and manually move the printhead left and back to right, turn the printer back on and see if it helps.

Check the control panel for error indicators. The error light is to the left of the display and is marked "Error," it will illuminate. The error will appear on the screen and is in plain English, so very simple to interpret. An example is "Color or Black Ink Out," meaning there's no ink.

2 Verify that the Epson Stylus CX3200 is connected to the printer with a cable. Try connecting without a USB hub while troubleshooting---that way you can identify if the problem is with the hub or printer. Replace the cable, it may be bad.

3 Print a nozzle check pattern to determine the extent of the problem. The nozzle check will allow you to determine whether the printer will print at all, and the results will give you a good indication of print problems. Press the Menu button on the Control Panel until you see Nozzle Check and press the Color Copy button.

4 Replace the printer cartridges if the Control Panel suggests you do so. Press the Menu button until you see "Change Cartridge" Press the Color Copy button and the cartridges will move to their change position. Lift the scanner and unclamp the cartridge. Replace the cartridge---color is on the right and black on the left. The Epson Stylus CX3200 will start charging the cartridge and after about thirty seconds the printer will be ready for use.

Where did you purchase your printer? Still seems to be available form Epson US:

It is not that it is discontinued; the printers do not seem to have been sold in Cceania.

Depending on the OS you are running, will determine which driver to download and install. Go to this link and download the correct driver. Uninstall the printer completely prior to installing the driver to make sure you get rid of the incorrect driver from the previous install.

At a guess your print head is blocked, it'll need a drop of head cleaning solution. They sell it fairly cheaply on ebay.
