I have installed d-link modem
Look closely at both ends of the network-cable connecting the network-port on your computer to one of the LAN ports on the router. The eight wires should have IDENTICAL colours & arrangement.
Also, be sure that you connect to one of the LAN ports on the router, not to the WAN port.
How to configure D-Link DFM
Make sure all of your drivers for your computer are downloaded and installed.
Run an Ethernet (CAT5) cable from your computer to your modem, and plug in your internet to the modem. Then plug in your modem and everything should be recognized right away.

Do you mean you have no driver for windows 2008? not too bad, consider using an ethernet port to configure it and maybe switch to a more recent operating system.
Linux or Mac OS are good unix derivatives guaranteeing stability and no virus hassles.

NO DIAL TONE.
That means that the modem cannot detect the correct (or any) dial tone when it picks up the line. Connect a normal; telephone to the line and lift the receiver. If you hear a normal dial tone, then the line is ok. Ithat is the case, then the modem may be faulty. You could try atz command and see what happens. If it is on a pabx or fax machine or something, the dial tone may be non-standard and teh modem won't recognise it. In that case, consult the modem manual for the AT command that tells it to ignore dial tone and dial anyway. You may have to enter that command as well as teh correct command to store that setting, alternatively you can enter the commands as an initialisation string in whatever software you are using to dial.
