Canon MultiPASS MP730 All-In-One InkJet Printer - Page 8 Questions & Answers
Canon MP730 won't print black.
First you open the thing up, there is a button on the right side. The printer, if on will center the carriage. Remove your cartridges. There is a grey lever on the right, lift it up. Between your thumb and index finger, grasp the pring head and pull it up out of there. Dont touch the contacts at the back. Run it under warm water for about 5 minutes or until the water dripping off the bottom is clear, slow running water, and dont aim it at those silvery things. Give it a shake. Put it back in there, lever down, cartridges in, and hope for the best.
Canon MP730 not printing. Printhead cleaning doesn't help.
You may need new print heads. They are around $50. Or, you could do this: Take the print head out of the printer, and run warm water from the tap (not high pressure), over the ports for about 5 minutes. Ink will drop out of the jets. Dont touch the electrical contact end of this head. This may clean the head enough so it works again. If not you need a new print head.
I would like to remove the printhead, so I can
You open the cover and let the inks come to the center. Remove all the inks and then lift the lever on the side of the carriage. The top of the printhead comes toward you and you lift straight out. You can soak the printhead in a shallow 1/4 inch of water for a couple hours and then dab gently on a paper towel, but don't scrub or scratch the nozzles on the bottom as they will be ruined.
At first I could not copy a document. When I
You have a non functioning printhed, but dont throw it away. Remove the print head, holding the sides of the print head. Run it under warm water for about 3 to 5 minutes until the water dropping out the bottom is clear. Run the water slow, and keep it away from those silvery things. Do attempt to wipe it dry with anything. Remember to put that grey lever down when you put the print head back. Give this a try before pitching it.
Black ink will not print
Hi There
Summary
Usage of compatible ink and leave the printer idle too long may cause printhead clogging
What should you do if you get this problem. Relax; you may recover the printhead by unclogging it. Follow these steps to unclog the printhead
1. Right click in the printer driver name
2. Select Properties menu
3. Click Maintenance tab
4. Click on cleaning sign for regular cleaning. Perform this up to 3 times.
5. If this does not work, perform Deep Cleaning
And if that not work
Some times it needs a good clean up but this is up to you if you want to do this,
But after you done this prime the printer so it gets the inks back in the heads, it may take a little time for the inks to work.
Ok.
There is fluid cleaner for this but I can never find any in the shops the only ones I seen is when they sell them in Tesco but they come in with the ink refill bottles so I just use worm water by it self on a cloth and dabbing on the heads to clean them, it will not harm the heads but not to much water.
Some heads are on the inks them self but some have them inside the printer so I not know your printer so if the heads are inside you need to get them out you may find that some heads will just clip out put some need to be unscrewed so you got to know how they come out so be careful and not push to hard on them, if the heads are on the ink then it is a easy job to clean them,
It worth a try it worked for me more than ones.
The MPTools can reset it in till you get time to clean the inkpads.

Error messages says Wrong Cartridge. Using same
Remove your ink cartridges and reinsert them making sure they are seated securely.
Next clear your printer by doing the following:
Turn off your computer and completely shut down.
Turn off your printer.
Disconnect all cables and electrical cords from your printer.
Make sure the electrical cord is also removed from the wall.
Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the power cord to the printer.
Then connect the printer cable from the computer to the printer.
Turn on your printer
Now reboot your computer (cold boot)
Your printer should now clear itself.
If this does not work try routine maintenance.
Routine maintenance and keeping full ink tanks will prevent this problem, however if you have the problem you can resolve it by doing the following:
1. Clean your print head using denatured alcohol solvent which can be purchased from most hardware stores. If unavailable, use 91% Alcohol (isopropyl alcohol (first aid antiseptic) which is available for less than a dollar at most Walmart pharmacy departments.
*Warning: You may want to use a pair of latex exam gloves as this is a messy process and can stain your fingers.
Time necessary 45-50 minutes
Supplies needed:
Isopropyl Alcohol or denatured alcohol
paper towels
latex gloves
sink, bowls and or basin
can of compressed air
very small screw driver
tablespoon or baby bulb type syringe
warm water
PROCEDURE:
1. Lift print head from printer. It pulls out easily because it is held in with the same down lever that holds the cartridge in place.
2. Put two layers of paper towels in the bottom of a dish to protect sensitive sprayer heads.
3. Put enough solvent in dish to cover the screens on which the cartridges sit when in use.
4. Take the two small screws out that hold the white ceramic piece
5. Gently, pry the ceramic piece back and away , to reveal the underside (No need to pull away the glued points on the sides.)
6. Gently, move head up and down to slosh solvent around it the best as you can. Use a table spoon or syringe to pour solvent over all orifices in the print head, turning it upside down and then back a few times.
7. Use canned air with a plastic straw to blow into and through all orifices, alternately sloshing/swishing and pouring solvent over head (be careful not to touch any of the holes, screens, or sprayer heads with anything)
8. Empty dirty solvent from bowl and replace with paper towels and clean solvent. Soak for approx 10 minutes. Rinse again with clean solvent poured directly on all parts, letting solvent overrun and fall into dish or basin.
9. Gently shake the solvent off the head, take it outside and spray with compressed air into all orifices to clear out and help evaporate any remaining solvent. Let sit on a clean paper towel for approx 20 minutes. (There may be a little ink bleeding out of the head, but once it dries completely it does not present any problems.
10. Reinstall head, cartridges and it will print like a new printer.
My Canon Multipass MP700 printer
Try to do a head cleaning and other cleaning operation to the black cartridge. Print a few tests. Make a sheet in excel with different patterns of black and print some copies of that. Do again a head cleaning or a nozzle cleaning and repeat the test. Repeat this process several times.
If it doesn't work you have two options:
-If you do not want to buy a new cartridge you could try to put it apart and clean all it's components, but there are two posibilities: to work better or worse.
-My sugestion is to buy a new black cartridge and it should work perfectly. The nozzles are probably blocked by some ink, but it is very hard to clean them.
If you need further assistance please post.
Thank you for using FixYa.
I am unable to fax
Normally a fast busy signal indicates a problem with the phone line. You need to call the phone company and have them do a "line check"
Sometimes they can fix this over the phone, sometimes a service call is required.
for more help------ Take your cell-phone, and dial the same number, to see if you get the same "busy" signal.
If the telephones in your business require you to "dial-9" to get an "outside" line, be sure that your FAX is also following that "dial-9" protocol, and also waiting 1 or 2 seconds after the "dial-9", in order to get the dial-tone from the "outside" line.
check out.keep updated.thanks.
Canon MultiPASS MP700
I had the same problem. My 4 year old MultiPASS MP700 started banding magenta stripes across everything I printed.
I suspected the cyan printhead was clogged because the printhead tests showed two of the cyan columns as half missing.
Canon was less than helpful. I went off of my suspicion that I needed a new printhead. I found one from an online supplier for 50 bucks...better price than a new printer! I put the new print head in and it works like new.

You may not see a paper jam.
This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you.
Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.
First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.
If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.
And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.
